The years have taken their toll on retired New York Police Detective John McClane; a road-map of scars, he's weary and broken and in need of surgery. McClane (Bruce Willis) is still very much in close contact with Zeus Carver (Samuel L Jackson). Why shouldn't he be? They went through a lot together. Zeus discovers a letter to McClane from the Nakatomi Corporation, a company that has become a super-brand. They wish to commend him for saving the lives of 36 Nakatomi employees 30 years previous. Reluctant Zeus persuades to McClane to fly to Tokyo, accompanying on the visit, but it isn't long until they discover all is not as it seems to be within Nakatomi Corp and the Takagi family clan.
