My doc just put me on 20mg of Zocor per day. My total cholesterol was 236, and my bad cholesterol was 165.

    That is all.

I was on it a while back. It brought it down some but not as much as the doctor liked. He switched me to Lipitor.

Wow, I'm glad he got you on something, Hasbeen. Do a little exercise and it will take a dive.

That's the plan. Get this sleep apnea fixed, get the energy level up, start exercising more regularly, drop the weight and the cholesterol.

I'm hardly one to talk (about taking any kind of drug) but from these posts it's obvious what they say - cholesterol lowering drugs are a lot different for each person. From what I've read and talked to my doctors about they're hard to monitor and hard on the liver and CAN make you feel like shit. Don't take them unless you HAVE TO. If you haven't tried diet and exercise do that before any cholesterol lowering drug. Mine is borderline but my doc said since my family has a history of above average cholesterol and NO heart disease it is probably genetic and unless it gets out of control just try to stay away from saturated fats and exercise as much as possible. :twocents:

    Thanks, Silver.

No adverse effect yet (that I know of). I did try the exercise/diet thing, but between the stress and sleep apnea, it's not working out well enough yet. I think my doc's using it as sort of a 'jump start'. He'd like to see enough progress by November to reduce the dosage or eliminate it altogether.
