In some cases its stupid... in other cases like when Todd S. stands over someone after busting them... I've got no issues... I mean what is wrong with standing over a guy and staring at him lettting him know without words that you just busted his ass?

Personally, I can do without it. Now I enjoy the trading of some good natured barbs on the field. I love it when they mike the players. But standing over someone and adding insult to injury is a tad distasteful to me. I'm the kind of guy that likes to see butt kicking from snap to whistle and then one helps the other up after the play so they can go at it again.

I like your last line... but in my example with Todd S. I've got no problem with him kinda standing over a guy after he decks him... now if he were to point fingers, put his foot on his chest etc... that is where I would draw the line...

Hasbeen's last line sums it up for me. Nothing like a psycological smack in the puss when you get helped up by the guy who just put you on your ass. I used to love that feeling, throw in a little jab like "keep trying".
Subtle stuff, I can deal with. It's the obvious taunting that should be snuffed out.

I like the reverse psychology that Fran Tarkenton used, to work the Steeler DL in the Super Bowl. Mean Joe was hitting him so hard, he thought his teeth would fall out... After each hit, Fran would say "nice tackle, Mr. Greene". By the 2nd half, Joe was helping him up, and not hitting him as hard...

Of course, Fran also gave him a coke after the game, and Joe gave him a jersey...the best commercial of all time...

I voted taking away the fun part.
I think the rule may be used to objectively.

Anyway, standing OVER a player talking shit- I could see that as taunting. I could see some gestures IN THE FACE of another player as taunting.
But if two players are toe to toe talking shit- NO.
Maybe there should be something like a time limit.
Kinda like you knock a player on his ass, or whatever, and he gets up- you are alowed 2 seconds worth of shit-talking. Anything after that should be taunting, IMO.

I don't like taunting at all when it involves getting in someones face. I mean if you did that shit in the real world as ass kicking is called for. Bring back the sack dance as it is done away from the player sacked. But standing over a player and jawing is bullshit. Stand up and smack back and forth no problem.
