first "real" concert I went to see was aerosmith, but it was lame.

Most memorable has to be Slipknot, Machinehead, Coal Chamber, and someone else at Ground Zero in Spartanburg.

This was right as Slipknot was emerging and MH was promoting a new album, headlining. I had 3 or 4 cuts/lacerations by the end of the show and had trouble walking for a week from getting an ass whoopin in the pit. What a show.

Pantera at the Omni in Atlanta shortly followed that. Chairs were getting ripped out of the concrete bleachers/stands/whatever and tossed down in the the massive circle pit on the floor in front of the stage.

It's hard to beat either of those shows with what's around these days....

    August Jam 1974

The August Jam @ the Charlotte (NC) Motor Speedway was also my first concert... and boy was it a doozy! I was 16 and my female guest was only 13 or 14 (?) - all I remember about her was that she was from Detroit (visiting relatives in NC), and she was gorgeous ... and the Speedway Jam was no place for a couple of young teens!!! Groups included: The Allman Brothers; Emerson Lake & Palmer; Black Oak Arkansas; Eagles; Foghat (the band that truly attracted me to the Jam); Marshall Tucker; Ozark Mtn DareDevils; Grinder's Switch; and many more! I think Wolfman Jack was the MC??? I've heard reports of as few as 150K up to nearly 350K rock fans were there @ some point during the weekend rock fest.

    Jam wasn't 1st...

No, I'm wrong. The Jam wasn't my 1st. I've just had a flashback... I attended a concert @ App State (Boone, NC). It was also a weekend event. I don't remember the date... but a bus load (literally) of rockers rode up there together. I do remember the bus getting pulled over by a state trooper 'cause trash was flying out of the bus windows. It was a wild ride to ASU, and the concert is only a blurrrrrrrrrrr. I don't have a clue who was there, but now I have another topic to research... I'll figure it out and get a post on here...

Maynard Ferguson. I was in 8th grade, and he played at my high school (where I would attend the following fall). Jazz trumpter, screamer...dude rules.

Rock concert? Van Halen, 1984, Rosemont Horizon (Now Allstate Arena).

Also saw Ratt/Kix/Brittny Fox in one show. that ruled.

My first concert was in September of 1978 at Oakland Coliseum.

Journey was the feature act with Ted Nugent, Blue Oyster Cult, AC/DC and Cheap Trick. What a freaking rock show!

Metallica, Danzig and Suicidal Tendancies at the Allentown Fairgrounds (in PA). I forget what year it was, though. Awesome show, though!

I have been a Metallica fan forever, but the first show of theirs I ever caught was a few years ago here in Charlotte when Godsmack opened for them.

How was it? This show was back soon after the Black album came out. I used to be a HUGE fan, but ever since the crap-ass St. Anger album, and Lars' stupid-ass comments to the fans, I don't really pay to much attention to them anymore.

It was good, although I think Godsmack outplayed them...
