I saw Bon Jovi with Blue Murder on the Bad Medicine tour, right after New Jersey came out. I got the tickets as a birthday present. Still today one of the best shows I've ever seen, JBJ rose out of the stage in a cloud of smoke and lazer lights. It's the only arena rock show I've ever seen. Next closest was Blink-182, coming on stage with "FUCK" on fire as they played. One of the most classic sets I have ever seen, I have never seen so many people get pissed off, they were worse than the BHG as far as crowd response. At one point they mixed up Jesse Helms and Jesse Jackson, I could have sworn I heard parents fainting.

    Nope, Powell is correct.

When Keith Emerson and Greg Lake got back together, Carl Palmer was drumming with Asia, so they recruited Cozy Powell (who also played with Jeff Beck, Rainbow, Sabbath and many more). I thought it was later than 1982 though.

I remember it well. I got to go, I was 15 at the time. It was called the August Jam, put on by BigWays radio 610 AM, anyone remember them? Former DJ and now actor Jay Thomas was the man on that station. They also put on some smaller concerts in the years prior to the Jam. They were called the "BWB" (Big Ways Birthday Bash) or something like that. The one at the Charlotte Coliseum (old one on Independence) with Billy Preston, Alice Cooper, John Sebastian (formerly of Lovin Spoonful) and others was my very first concert as a teen. I would'nt trade those days for anything.

    Thank you Cath.

Uh, I think that might have been 1986, which means I may have seen The Hollies on a reunion tour at Carowinds in '84. The Spongetones opened.

I don't count the very numerous gospel shows in the Ashbrook auditorium that I had to go to 'cause my dad was the auditorium manager.
