    RALEIGH, NC-Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager for the 2006 Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has acquired center Eric Belanger and defenseman Tim Gleason from Los Angeles in exchange for defensemen Jack Johnson and Oleg Tverdovsky.

    Not thrilled, but I guess the relationship between the Canes and JJ had gotten a bit tense. I generally go with the thinking that the team that gets the best player wins the deal, which would be LA, but those two seem solid and can help immediately. With what the Canes lost in free agency and injuries this offseason, they needed a boost.

    What's your take? Why did the relationship with JJ and the Canes go bad? Why wouldn't he come to the playoffs? Why did you post this here?

    Canes went through crap like this with Tanabe when he was a rookie. Don't know why it would sour, but Canes (read Rutherford) knows what hes doing. If he thinks JJ woulda been bad for them, then I'll defer to his judgement.

    total salary dump. Rutherford said in a presser today he was "overpaid for his production."

    These Hockey fans are lost, like a little puppy wandering the neighborhood looking for their home. They don't have one, so they post wherever they can. I've found posts in the Home Improvement forum, and this forum. It makes me sad.
