That's why taking vitamins and supplements is a good thing. Exercise and changing your whole perspective on eating is our goal here. We're not viewing this as a "diet" but as a way of living. No processed sugar or flour and a good balance of protein, fat and carbs. The way we are eating has been wonderful for DH's diabetes. Insulin produces weight gain and he has been able to reduce his insulin intake dramatically.

I get both those mags and have never read that before. I understand the principal...taking in a few carbs after you workout will prevent the protein from being used as an energy source. However, the carbs from ice cream - pure sugar and lactose - are poor choices because they are the fast burn kind that will spike insulin which means the creation of stored body fat. Plus the fat content in ice cream is high. Given the protein in ice cream comes from milk...it is very good but there isn't enough of it. You'd actually be better off drinking regular old milk because you'd get the right/better amount of protein, less fat, better carbs, and more H2O.

If it's gross and disgusting, then it's Bud Light for me and I'll just pick back up without the alcohol when I get back to Kansas.

miller lite has half the carbs of bud light.

that jello sounds good too, Coops. I'm so over eggs and cheese right now. Was never a big fan of meat either. Plus, i've been feeling extremely nauseus the past two mornings. I just feel icky. A peanut butter and jelly sandwich just looks good at this moment.

thanks, silver. EEL feels the same way and says i'm perfect the way i am. I figure i'll give it a go for two weeks and see how i feel. I'm use to being 115 and i'm so way over that mark that i can't even fit into a lot of my favorite clothes. :(

Do you have to use a vinegar & oil dressing on Atkins?

no, you just have to read the carb content. Blue Cheese, Ranch, etc - cream based dressings are usually fine depending on the manufacturer.

Green Goddess is another good choice Mike. Ham and cream cheese roll-ups are great snacks, and lettuce wraps of any kind are great.
