I agree with you wolftiger. I watch 4 shows from TBN but i've notice that the actual people who own TBN seem shady. You're right, that Jan lady does look like a copy of tammy faye. She seems so fake with her crying. One of the preachers of the 4 shows i watch is David Jeremiah and i've noticed that they took his program off recently. I wonder if it was because he didn't want to be associated with them anymore.

    uhhhhhh, oh . . . Earl Paulk is now in bigger trouble :( :( . . .

    ============

    Megachurch leader charged with perjury

ATLANTA - The 80-year-old leader of a suburban Atlanta megachurch has been charged with lying under oath, court documents show. A warrant for the arrest of Archbishop Earl Paulk, co-founder of Cathedral of the Holy Spirit at Chapel Hill Harvester Church, was issued Monday, according to court documents. Paulk was making arrangements Monday night to turn himself in to authorities, WAGA-TV reported.

Paulk's attorneys did not immediately return calls from The Associated Press for comment.

Former church employee Mona Brewer is suing Paulk, his brother, Don, and the church for allegedly manipulating her into an affair from 1989 to 2003 by telling her it was her only path to salvation. In a 2006 deposition stemming from the lawsuit, the archbishop said under oath that the only woman he had ever had sex with outside of his marriage was Brewer.

But the results of a court-ordered paternity test revealed in October that Paulk is the biological father of his brother's son, D.E. Paulk, who is now head pastor at the family's church. As part of Brewer's lawsuit, eight women have given sworn depositions that they were coerced into sexual relationships with Earl Paulk.

A judge ordered the paternity test at the request of the Cobb County district attorney's office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which were investigating Paulk.

Cobb County District Attorney Pat Head declined comment when reached at his home Monday night.

Paulk and his brother, Don, have been hit with multiple lawsuits from former members alleging they were coerced into sexual affairs, but this is the first time criminal charges have been filed against the archbishop.

I would disagree that there are only a "handful" of church's and genuine believers. But most of what you said was true and intersting.
I do think some people are not mature Christians, and that has nothing to do with how many YEARS you've believed.

Among famous preachers who have "mega churches" guys like Billy Graham are the exception. I have little confidence in any preacher who is on television. Money and power tend to corrupt these guys.

They are the extreme minority of Christians but they are also the most visible. I agree stuff like this keeps people away from God.

And then there you go back to people (adults) focusing on OTHER people not GOD. I think some of these TV Evangelists and even some pastors become "God's" to people.
If you cannot question and point out errors in your pastor or chuch it's time to MOVE on.

People do focus on people who claim to be Christians. Right or wrong the actions of Christians can draw people to God or push them away. It is true you should not focus on people but on God but that is for people who are already Christians. People who are lost can not be expected to follow that rule.

It's sad to see the fall of preachers who are in the limelight or in obscure small towns, but they should never have been put on such a pedestal in the first place. We live in a fallen world where we're told that Satan roams the earth seeking to devour, and the one thing you can count on is that people will stumble and give in to sin. It's wrong, but it's human nature and the only perfect man has already came and gone, but he will be back! Those who use the excuse for not attending any church because they focus on the faults of others are not understanding the very reason for going to church in the first place. It's to worship the King, not to compare ourselves to those around us. The church is not a museum for saints, but rather a hospital for sinners.
And WOLFTIGER1968, I do agree with most of what you say about the shameless call for sending in the $$ to anyone holding up a Bible. BUT, that being said, you should check into how many times in the Bible that Jesus talks about tithing, giving 10 percent off the top to "the storehouse", which is your local church that you might attend. That is simply obedience to God and is a form of worship in and of itself. Any other donations one is led to give to is sacrificial giving and is at your discretion. Whether it's an orphanage, tv or radio show, salvation army, etc. etc.. Like you and many others, I can quickly see which ones are flat out frauds and don't deserve a dime of our hard earned money. Don't think that I'm preaching at you because I don't live at a high income either and am guilty myself of not giving as much as I should, but that doesn't change one bit what the Bible clearly says. You're right too that preachers and teachers of God's word are held to a higher standard of judgement by God.......not by us though. The closest we can come to being like Jesus is when we forgive, and He won't forgive us if we refuse to forgive others.

With all the information out there in the US, I would say people CHOOSE to not believe. I think it's our duty to live as much like Christ as we can.
