It's really the Catch-22 of being a Tar Heel fan. They claim to love college basketball but all they talk about is how good their players are in the pros. It's like this Tar Heel fans. You know how Jordan won a lot of titles in the pros and dominated and hit game winners and was a winner in general? That's what Laettner did for Duke.

Now, I wasn't online back then, but last I checked, Laettner was taken third in his draft class. I can't speak for others, but I was happy as hell the Hornets took Zo. As a Duke fan, I thought Laettner would be a solid pro, but I also knew his game was built for college. I certainly never expected him to be the next Bird. Now if you want to talk about Danny Ferry's pro career, that one shocked me a little bit. I thought that his exceptional passing in college would translate better to the NBA than it did.

Just because Laettner was on the Dream Team was not a proclamation of his future NBA dominance, it was a reward for his exceptional college career.

Yeah I guess there is no reason to think K had anything to do with him making that team?

K taught and coached Laettner for four years. I think it's fair to say he had a hell of a lot to do with him making the team.

Yep, exactly! More the only reason he made the team. Which dookie was is that said he was great in college, but maybe not best suited for the NBA at that time. Maybe Shaq or Zo would have been the better choice.
