New York Newsday cites multiple sources who indicate the Yankees "have seriously contemplated" trying to acquire Brown from the Dodgers, reportedly in exchange for right-hander Jeff Weaver. The paper indicates the Yankees are willing to assume the risk that Brown will stay healthy. He made 32 starts last season, but just 29 in the previous two seasons, combined. The deal would save the Dodgers about $14.5 million over the next two years, the difference between the two pitchers' salaries.

Al Leiter would be a better choice for the Yankees and cheaper too. The Mets are going nowhere fast.

Kevin Millwood, on the other hand, would not be a good choice for the Yankees, because he has not thrived in a tuff media market like Phila, and he would be best served by taking a little bit less and coming back to Atlanta.

You mean not thrived. He proved he wasn't a staff ace in Philadelphia. Wolf, Padilla or even Myers had better stuff.

    made the correction
he is asking for front of the rotation money where he is a #3 pitcher at best ($6-8 M). Russ Ortiz deserves more money than Millwood.

I really hope the Yankees don't go after Brown. He's already overpaid as it is.
