that team lacks offense. boozer is one of 3 guys on the team who can actually get his own shot. you can't possibly expect to get anywhere relying on derrick rose to carry your offense for 82 games.

deng can create for himself and boozer has a legit low post game. you can't just remove that and expect to win 62 games. i know boozer got a lot of criticism for his play in the playoffs. and he did kinda suck. but i don't see how they could possible hope to win 62 games without their #2 scorer and #2 rebounder.

yeah, but henderson ain't a rookie and a lot of his pt came due to injuries to other players ahead of him.

i think you're right. i just think it's sad that the plan is to get a good lottery pick.

good luck with that. if the plan is to suck for a couple years, i think those contracts are all up by then anyways.

Diaw is in the final year of his deal. He might have value for a team looking to clear cap space. Magette and Diop are probably going to be hard to trade without taking something just as bad back in return.

If they have some young players who develop during the season and end up with another lottery pick then that is not the worst thing they could do. If one of the young guys starts to tear it up it will be fun to watch even if the team is not in the playoff hunt.

Maybe they even end up with Harrison Barnes at small forward....

They made a qualifying offer to Dante Cunningham. Now they have the right to match any offer he gets. If he does not get any they have him for one year at $1 million.

Jumping in late to this discussion, but I'm slightly perturbed that I agree with every word of this and terrified that i'm agreeing a lot with thelt.

    Couple points here:

    1. Carlos Boozer fucking sucks. I don't care what he did in the regular season, in the playoffs he let himself be TYLER HANSBROUGH'S bitch. Think about that for a second.

1a. Not that commentators are the end all be all of basketball knowledge (especially Van Gundy) but it became HILARIOUS listening to end of game situations where Van Gundy and Reggie Miller basically spent the whole timeout discussing defensive and offensive strategy and what to do with subbing Boozer in and out on possessions with limited timeouts remaining. The dude just freaking sucks on the defensive end, which is a HUGE liability in the playoffs. As much as people malign Bosh, I wonder how things would have turned out if Bosh had joined D Rose in Chicago as opposed to going to Miami.

    2. Trading Jackson was a BRILLIANT FUCKING MOVE. It was basically a cap-neutral move that turned a 19 into a 7th pick. Face it, this team is going nowhere with Corey Maggette, but it was going nowhere with Stephen Jackson.

    3. I know nothing about Biyombo Mutombo Mbplondo but i've really warmed up to his Lion King costar Kemba. I know he's undersized, and physically gets compared more to a poor mans Hardaway or Iverson, but I see a lot of D Wade intangibles in him. D Wade took a mediocre Marquette team to the final four (remember that triple double over UK?), and we all saw what Kemba did this spring. Don't twist my words, I am in no way saying Kemba Walker will be Dwayne Wade, but I can see what Jordan saw in him.

    4. Bottom line is this: if these moves were made solely by Jordan and his sidekick Higgins, i'd be worried. But I'm willing to see what Mr. Chow is able to do with this team and managing the cap. So long, gay boys.

yeah, boozer is not a defensive stopper by any stretch. but if they were talking about subbing him in and out, then clearly they recognized that he was needed on the offensive end.

he did have a crappy post season, no doubt. but wade didn't have a great series against the bulls, does that mean he isn't important to the team? lebron disappeared in for key stretches against dallas. it happens. players have bad spells, miss shots, go cold, etc.

boozer's lack of defense is really not a huge problem for the bulls. they have plenty of guys who can d up. what they lack is scoring. they didn't lose against miami because they couldn't stop miami, they lost because they couldn't score. in two of the four losses to miami, they held miami to 83 and 80 points. if you hold a team to under 85 and you lose, then you gotta look at your offense. removing boozer from that team would compound the problem dramatically. rose and deng are not enough to carry the offense.
