    Because i'm lazy.....

    I plugged my xbox into the router and it couldn't detect internet. What do i need to do to get on?

    switch what port its in... and retry... for some reason the XBOX has to be plugged into the port that has a direct line out. Generally on a router its port 1 or 4.

    You might just need to straight wire it from cable modem

    PantherPaul is my Xbox tag name. Only games for online I have are Links 2004 and the Mech Assault. VERY MUCH LOOKING forward to Halo2

    Meat, you have to setup your gateway (router) in the Live configuration settings. You can either call those putzes @ Live Tech Support (serious ass bags though, I warn you, they will do anything they can to prevent you from connecting to a router, & heaven forbid a wireless bridge like mine), or you can tell us what kind of equipment you have and we can try to help. It's been so long since I set mine up that I barely remember it. What I do remember is inputing my router IP address (which for a linksys box is something like 162.168.0.0) and so on. Once I did that, it worked fine.
