Blu-ray is too little, too late, for a need that is undefined, as 99% of home users are far enough from a small enough TV (assuming it will even display 1080p anyway) that they likely can't tell the difference from 720p to 1080p. Netflix HD, DirecTV HD, Cable HD are good enough for 720p displays.

That said, I have a blu-ray player in my garage ($100, couldn't pass it up) to marry to the new 1080p projector. At 5-10', and 106", there is a difference in 720p and 1080p :).

FYI: 1080i is worse than 720p...

Yea, b/c I play on a 9" black and white screen... are you fucking kidding me? I'm not going to act like I have a 80" Sony Bravia 1080p or whatever, but for the size of the room the 37" Olevia HD LCD does just fine.

As was mentioned, until you break the 48"+ screen size 720p to 1080p isn't noticeable.

Talk about ignorance. Sorry I don't want to bask in the nuclear glow of an oversize TV in comparison to the room I'm in.

Awww... I bought my parents a 42 better than that last year for Christmas. There's is 1080p.... you can tell a difference.

Its not a matter of "want", but rather a matter of "can't"

It amazes me that you can think you're better than anyone.

I don't think I'm better than anyone... I just think the other guy was being a dick. I'm a bigger dick.

That's sweet. It is a matter of "want". I could have gone bigger but its about being in proportion to the room that the TV is in, unless you want to turn the heat off at night b/c the TV will keep it nice and toasty for you. Not everyone has to compensate for other things they lack.

I can guarantee you there isn't a difference between the 37" and the 42" other than 5" and $150.

That's 15", but when I researched that was the general consensous I came to though, that until you reached close to 50" you couldn't tell a big enough difference.

Oh bless your heart... so no one else reasearched?? No you can't get it. Simple as that. I'm sorry you live in a little assed house, but there is a difference in the picture that CAN be noticed, And FWIW If your house was so small you couldn't go for a 42 instead of a 37 then you shoulda saved that money to go towards a new place, and not gone HD at all. ANY place small enough to not be able to fit in 5 diagonal inches must be really cramped.

Maybe others "reasearched", I just said what I found. What's a "little assed house," do you have an impediment?

I can't get it? Are you my banker? What are you 5? You can tell me what I can and can't do? You're not even worth discussing this with, it's like fighting with a kid who has down syndrome, it's retarded.

It's not about having a small house, but since you're 12 and were probably cursing people out on COD last night, that might be tough for you to understand. It's called proportion, not size. The proportion of a room is important to picking a range for a TV size. You don't drop a 13" TV in a warehouse b/c it's not proportional. The samething occurs anywhere else. I could have fit 30" more for a TV, but I'd rather not burn out my retinas or waste my money.

Go ahead and buy your Granny a bad ass TV since you're so awesome.

see this is the part before when you got all pissy that made me be an ass. Its also what made me believe you can't do better. #1 because you took such offense. #2 because your argument relegated to name calling because you have nothing better to say.

see more useless name calling because you can't defend yourself. I know ALL about proportion, but I also know they don't drop a lot of little rooms in big houses. See I also know common sense. I'm not badmouthing you if you can't afford it. If you'd just say "this TV is the best I could do for my situation" I wouldn't have a problem. I'm bad mouthing you because you pretend to know something about them and don't and you're having to act like what you have is equal to or superior when its really not. Its like this. I don't have a Lexus, but I know also know my wife's Honda isn't as nice. That's not saying my wife's Honda doesn't get her from point A to point B comfortably, but at the end of the day, its still not as good as a Lexus.
