nah MvM, I am basing it on the fact I have yet to read anything from FOX to indicate he has bought into Wienke being our future. He has been pretty indifferent. That and something else I heard on the streets from somebody on the equipment staff... yea I know not necessarily a reliable source but he was there every day recently and hears the talk... I'll be shocked if we go into game 1 with Wienke, Peete, Lytle on the roster...

And for the record, I hope my opinion on Wienke is proven dead wrong - that can only be good for the team!

Not to roll out the sarcasm but ... my sister's cousin's boyfriend has this friend that plays ball with a guy who's girlfriend cuts the hair of a guy that lives next door to the guy who's son goes to school with another kid who's dad is the 5th assistant water boy for the Panthers..... and he told me ...

    Sorry Sandman I had to.

No problem mailman, I can take it as you know, or I would have been long gone...

I do think your example is a bit overboard... I am talking about someone that was there the last few weeks and someone that had direct conversations with players and was around the coaching staff... someone employed by the Panthers, that I had a direct conversation with...

Makes me feel a little bit better that every team he worked out for offered him a contract. He's either back, or 4 other teams have bad front offices as well.

Hey, I got nothing against the guy... I'd just like for once to read the top 2 Panther headlines and not read about a player either getting surgery or us grabbing a guy fresh off surgery...

I think it's a great signing. I wish we could find a lot of deals like that. Please though, he's not allowed to play basketball with Peppers, unless their on the same team.:D

For us, now, it's all about the signing bonus. If we got him for a low bonus, we'll bascially 'try him out' in camp, and cut him or keep him.

    Win-Win.

    It's nuts, though. We've signed 4 cornerbacks. We've got 7.

    We've got 2 DE's.

    Not a good poker face.

Julius Peppers, welcome to the Panthers. We'd like to introduce you to Aaron Brooks, Michael Vick, and Brad Johnson.

    More from the Gazette:

Vinson, now 25, found his way into Holmgren’s doghouse soon after he arrived in Seattle when he tore the ACL in his right knee during a pickup basketball game in the spring of 2000. Holmgren had almost forgiven Vinson when the cornerback re-injured the knee the following offseason in yet another pickup basketball game.

The Seahawks then released him prior to the 2001 season and Vinson spent last year rehabbing a second torn ACL.

He’s been working out in Orlando with a strength coach and is said to be running the 40 meters in the low 4.3s.

Vinson is a risk-free investment for the Panthers since he would count nothing against the team’s salary cap if he’s released before the start of the season. On the other hand, Vinson can earn up to $1 million this season if he makes the team and reaches certain incentives for playing time and interceptions, according to his agent Mason Ashe.

    .......

Seems very win-win for both parties. He's got a chance to start, we got an FA for nothing.

Good sign and I agree, no lose situation. This guy had a really bright future before the injuries. It remains to be seen what the guy has lost - but you have got to love the work ethic he has shown coming back this far.
