The Saints don't need a RB so do they trade down now? Who wants that #2 pick now?

I had predicted a trade between them and the Raiders with the Raiders taking Bush. I am probably stupid but I have never had Bush going number one. Better to be lucky than good. Anyways heres my mock as it stands.

    1. Houston: Mario Williams, DE, N.C. State
Addresses a need and not to mention they can sign Williams a DE
alot cheaper than they can sign Bush.

    2. Oakland trade (New Orleans): Reggie Bush, RB, USC
Oakland trades up for the best player in the draft.

    3. Tennessee: Matt Leinart, QB, USC
Leinart seems to be the best choice right now since the Titans have all
but chased McNair out of town and of the big three QBs coming out
Leinart seems to be the most ready to play, not to mention Leinart
is already familar with Coach Chows system.

    4. N.Y. Jets: D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia
Jets Line has been bombed by free agency and a lack of talent Ferguson
is a nice start to rebuilding it.

    5. Green Bay: A.J. Hawk, OLB, Ohio State
On a Defense that is hurting for a Leader who plays mistake free
football Hawk seems to foot the bill.

    6. San Francisco: Vernon Davis, TE, Maryland
Young QBs need reliable targets and they don't get much better than
    Vernon Davis.

    7. New Orleans from (Oakland): Michael Huff, DB, Texas
Saints trade down since they have no need for a RB but they do
need multiple picks and players that are ready to suit up they pick
up the best DB in the draft.

    8. Buffalo: Brodrick Bunkley, DT, Florida State
Ngata may be the favorite here but Bunkley makes a little more
    sense along side Tripplet

    9. Detroit: Winston Justice, OT, USC
The player I believe the Lions wanted is off the board but getting that
bookend tackle seems like a nice consultation prize. Justice may prove
in the future to be drafted a little higher than his talent warrants but
    OTs typically are.

    10. Arizona: Vince Young, QB, Texas
Nice future replacment for Warner and great spot for Young.

    11. St. Louis: Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech
The Rams need help in their defensive backfield in the worst way
and reach a little by taking Williams

    12. Cleveland: Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon
Big body tackle to add to the rotation would have probably gone
Wimbley here but Ngata should'nt have slipped this far.

    13. Baltimore: Donte Whitner, S, Ohio State
Second biggest playmaker on that Buckeye Defense Whitner would be
a nice compliment to Reed and an already dangerous D.

    14. Philadelphia: Chad Jackson, WR, Florida
The Eagles should probably take a player so they can get back to
the type of D that got them to Championships but with no number
one WR Jackson would be hard to pass on.

    15. Denver: Manny Lawson, LB/DE, N.C. State
Lawson would greatly improve the piss poor pass rush Denver had
    in 2005.

    16. Miami: Antonio Cromartie, CB, Florida State
Cromartie gets to stay in state a little longer Tye Hills rates higher
on other peoples boards but I have Hill second to Cromartie sorry guys.

    17. Minnesota: Jay Cutler, QB, Vanderbilt Jason Allen, DB, Tennessee
Cutlers slide stops here Brad Johnson can't play forever and Childress
needs his guy to make his O tick.

    18. Dallas: Kamerion Wimbley, DE, Florida State
Wimbley would be a nice fit with cowboys but dont be surprised if
    Jason Allen sneaks in here.

    19. San Diego: Santonio Holmes, WR, Ohio St.
Holmes would give first year starting QB Rivers another weapon on
    an already dangerous offense.

    20. Kansas City: Tye Hill, CB, Clemson
To run his D Coach Edwards needs speedy CBs and he doesn't have
    one yet.

    21. New England: Chad Greenway, OLB, Iowa
The Patriots replace Willie McGinest with Greenway, a highly productive
linebacker with the ability to play Will or Sam could go with Sims
instead but I believe Greenway is a better fit here.

    22. San Francisco: Ernie Sims, OLB, Florida State
San Fran traded into this spot in hopes of getting a wideout but end
up getting the second best linebacker in the draft.

    23. Tampa Bay: Bobby Carpenter, OLB, Ohio State
Tampa would like to take a OT here but there is not one worthy of
    this high a pick.

    24. Cincinnati: Nick Mangold, C, Ohio State
Bengals need to get younger at the center postion and with
Mangold they not only get younger they get better.

    25. N.Y. Giants: Johnathan Joseph, CB, South Carolina
With the Signing of Short and an Arrington deal in the works the
front office can focus on their next weakness.

    26. Chicago:Sinorice Moss, WR, Miami
The Bears need a speedy WR to play in the slot and help cause
down field match up problems just think Stokley.

    27. Carolina: Lindale White, RB, USC
I know I know Williams is the second rated running back in the draft
and Lindale has had an awful offseason but the Panthers run a power
running attack and White fits that role alot better than Williams.

    28. Jacksonville: Thomas Howard, OLB, Texas-El Paso
Delrio likes those speedy LBs and they don't get much faster
    than Howard.

    29. N.Y. Jets: DeAngelo Williams, RB, Memphis
Jets can't believe their luck that Williams is still available.

    30. Indianapolis: Laurence Maroney, RB, Minnesota
Edges replacement Maroney should fit in nice in that Colts O.

    31. Seattle: Kelly Jennings, CB, Miami
Nice productive college player he has probably been wrongly
overlooked in a cornerback deep draft.

    32. Pittsburgh: Jason Allen, S, Tennessee
Jason Allen should never have slipped this far in my opinion but things
always seem to workout for the Steelers on draft day

anywhere I lay my head I'm gonna call my home
Saints need picks as much or more than Houston.
And if they pass on Bush, they're justified - they have a true elite back, hell they have everything but (possibly) the long term QB on offense. They need D, and OL. Plus, it's always easier to be the second team to pass on a guy like that than be the first.

Last thing I heard on ESPN was that five teams -Jets, Packers, 49ers, Raiders, and Cardinals were all trying to trade up for the Saints pick. Only the Cardinals have said that they weren't moving up for Bush.

Great Blue North says Saints are asking for 3 #1s for the pick. ESPN says they had a long conversation with the Bush team, asking if he would play there. Apparently the agent was saying he wouldnt. Saints assured them they would pay him as the #2. (not try to get him to sign for less than that). Bush team said he would play there. Owner has signed off on spending the $ and the pick.

Looks like they will pick him right now.

McAllister is brittle himself, and Bush is only a 15 carries a game RB. A huge spash is exactly what NO needs. The Texans didnt need it. The splash was part of the reason, apparently, that NO signed Brees. They had alot of negative publicity by the preference stated of the owner, Haslit, and a number of players that they go to San Antonio permanently.
