I forgot he was from Hickory - that certainly is a plus for State, or UVA. Just curious, but where do you rank State in terms of best b-ball jobs in the ACC. I don't see them being any better than 4th or 5th, and possibly as low as 7th.

I think you are confusing how good they have been with how good they could/should be.

No, I am saying that right now, I would rank State anywhere between 4th and 7th as as the best jobs - meaning that where they could be, the environment, pay, recruiting, etc. all play into it. And the ability to do it consistently. State has not been a consistent force in the ACC since Sloan left. Jimmy V was great and all, but it's not like his teams were dominant or anything.

I have to agree with vp here. Is State a dream job for an established coach? Wittenburg might be the best choice in Raleigh. I'm not sure how I'd rank any of the jobs after Duke/UNC/Wake. Probably the next 3 as Ga Tech/Maryland/NCSU, UVa, FSU, Miami, then Clemson/VaTech.

Chris Corchiani defended Sendek last week saying the Wolfpack had not finished lower than 4 over the past three seasons (2nd-2004, 4th-2003, 4th-2003, 6th-2002, 7th-2001). That's probably good enough to stay anywhere, but their non-conference schedule doesn't thrill the locals. Herb's biggest problem, showing no emotion and personality on the bench. Several people that I know who have met him for lengthy periods of time say he's very personable and likable in a casual setting.

With the recruiting classes he's had, he wouldn't, but that doesn't prevent ignorance.
