    >>? Rob Johnson was out there, Jeff Blake and Kent Graham also.

Ferrotte too. And Batch, who I wanted.

The answer, sadly, is cap space at the time. I think all those guys, save Graham and maybe Batch, can't remember, went for more than the minimum. Though I think we could have squeezed in Jeff Blake or Johnson had we wanted.

Its hard for me to buy the "Peete knows the system" deal. Sure, five years ago. That has helped him how? He wasn't that strong then, and now after this layoff, and showing very little in preseason, what? If Peete had performed well, that's one thing. Hell, he barely performed period.

I think before the season is over, all three QBs will have played.

And if they were grooming Fasani, and all about him in the end, why not promote him to #2. He'll progress faster their than running the frigging scout team.

I don't like this sort of hastiness. You have a plan, you execute.

that's the thing though. Not one thing in all this seems to have to do with Fasani. Weinke's still the #2 and unless they're intending on trading him off ASAP, which I seriously doubt, they're going to stick to that.

Or at least that's what I figure, so I can stop thinking this is as irrational a move as it seemed at first.

I have a real big problem with this move, just for the record....

So Peete is the starter because Henning knows him? He's done NOTHING to win this job. If Weinke does not know the offense well enough, it's the coaching staff's fault. Maybe the offense seems complicated to Fox, obviously his boy Peppers must be a fast learner.

Weinke has had the same problem in preseason as he had last year, no running game.

No, this is a "I want to play my guy" thing, and that's all it is. He has down played all of Seifert's draft picks, including Morgan, but his greatness can not be denied, and won't be denied.

Who's idea was it to bring Peete in to begin with. Get a freakin' back up that's played this decade if you don't want to play Weinke. Go get a new starter.

Just don't come in Monday morning saying we lost because fumbled snaps and int's don't win games.

I'll feel better when I know Peete can take a hit, might as well get Old Coot out there. (no offense Coot, I'm sure you throw a fine spiral)

On the last time he was surprised to find out he was starting:

Is this when Henning ran things? Oh shit!

    Yep, Y2.

Although the head coach usually makes those decisions to pull.

Hell, by the end of the day, we might trade for fricking Mark Rypein.

The good thing is finally we have a coaching staff with balls. Oh boy, if Winkola proves me wrong, thats cool, cause that means we are winning games.

Believe me I am nervous because the thing obvious to almost all with an eye for football is that our most talented QB is a rookie with limited college success....

Running isn't talent. Arm is talent, accuracy is talent, consistency is talent. No amount of veiled insult changes that.
What was that you always said about speaking for a group?

No insulting you dude, I have told you in person and on this board, your overall knowledge of football far exceeds mine. So let that go...

Fasani does have arm... Winky had never made the throws Fasani has demonstrated he can make while on the run. I think that takes arm. Winky has been very short on some throws as of late. Fasani has arm, he just leaves the pocket to early for your blood, that can be fixed, and when it does, if you are a Panther fan, you will smile because then you will have a QB that can "create" when the text book is not an option - which happens very often in the NFL.

I'm sure Henning is on the phone as we speak. Maybe call Art Monk and Charlie Rodgers out of retirement.
