It sounded to me that it was not a BS story. Fox sounds like he's right. Hell might as well play it out.

I find it troubling that he spent more time defending Weinke and less time promoting Peete?

    I don't, b/c he doesn't want to 'kill' Weinke.

We didn't have this option last year. Weinke needs a little time, he'll get it.

It's still a testament to how sorry our offense is.

Let's hope it fires Weinke up. If not, we'll have a new crop of qb's next year.

Well, it's not strategic, but it's for a reason and he's still apparently our hope as long as he doesn't pout and he can stop one-hopping the short outs.

  8. Geesh this is beginning to sound more and more like K-State's predicament. Head Coach Snyder picks a starter for the game (Marc Dunn). Dunn plays for a little over a quarter. Backup QB comes in (Ell Roberson III) and plays for the remainder of the game. Both QB's did a good job. Don't know why though our 3rd string QB didn't get any playing time. We were up by at least 30 in the second half...(Won the game 48-3).

My head is just dizzy thinking about this.....Weinke or Peete....Dunn or Roberson.

I don't have a problem with Peete starting a few games to help Weinke along. If this is the real deal, I'm glad Fox is doing it this way. Maybe in the long run, being mentored by Peete is what Weinke needs to develop in this system.

I just hope Peete can get up to speed quickly enough to make a decent showing.

Some one needs to check Weinke's contract and tell me that he doesn't have a bonus for being the starter on Sunday before I buy into this spiel.

Peete was in this offense about 10 years ago. He went 123/213 for 57.7%. He threw for 1702 yards with 9 TD's and 9 INT's. He's played in 19 games since 1996, 15 of those from '96-'98, 1 in the last 3 years. His last start was in 1998.

As for Fox's excuse that Weinke missed too much time, Peete missed the better part of one mini camp with his knee and has missed most of the last three weeks with tending to family matters. It doesn't wash.

From what we've all read, he wasn't sold on Weinke from the beginning so why hold onto him? Rob Johnson was out there, Jeff Blake and Kent Graham also. Why not one of these guys? Surely they are more talented than Peete.

If the QB crisis of the moment was so dire why not Harrington when he's there sitting waiting on you? Peppers may turn out to be great, but picking him more and more seems to be an orchestrated PR move to make up for picking Peter over Holliday some years back.

Why is Hurney signing these guys picked in the 4th and 5th round to contracts that pay them like 1st rounders should they simply play in a number of games? It's damn ignorant. Say what you will about Polian, he kept contracts reasonable when it came to this kind of nonsense. We've went from model franchise in '96 to league laughingstock in five short years.

Good luck filling those empty seats from last year JR, you're gonna need it and you'll need a whole lot of it filling the new ones this year. Don't try and sell the fan base chickenshit and call it chicken salad.
