UMMM not to me. Maybe because I'm equating Preacher with Minister, or Pastor.
Anyone can be a preacher, it takes someone VERY special to be a PASTOR. I've meet FEW in my life. And takes someone even MORE special to be a decent Pastors wife. Only met TWO of those in my entire life.

That's confusing to you? A speaker is the same as a preacher in your book? Does Ruth Graham have the title of Reverend or Pastor?

Bill Clinton is a speaker but he sure isn't a preacher.

A preacher is a speaker, but obviously all speakers aren't preachers.

Ruth Graham is Billy Graham's wife. I think you might be referring to Anne Graham Lotz, their daughter. IMO, I would say both Billy and Anne Graham are preachers, but neither are pastors. They don't have a church home or congregation to minister to. They are larger and more far reaching versions of the apostle Paul.

Yeah, that makes sense, and your right, I was thinking of Anne when I said Ruth.
Still if you say the word preacher to me, I think of someone in the ministry that has a title, not just a speaker.

I can't help but be reminded of an experience my former pastor in NC had with Joyce Meyers.

He was in India on a mission trip building orphanages. The town he went to was out in the country. Everywhere he went there were huge billboards on the side of the road advertising that Joyce Meyers was coming to that city and to buy advance tickets at such and such number.

On the day that she arrived, there were tons of people who showed up at the meeting hall where she would preach. There were so many people who were poor as anything, with barely any clothes on. There were naked children running all over the place hoping for handouts from those who were attending the event. There were sick people all over the place (maybe hoping to be healed).

Then Joyce Meyers appeared, in a limousine, nonetheless! She was escorted by police cas where were going ahead of her to clear the road of the people, running their sirens to make sure that everyone noticed they were there. The limousine windows were tinted, so no one could see inside the car to see Joyce Meyers.

The car pulled right up to the door of the auditorium and she got out and quickly hurried into the building. She didn't acknowledge the crowd all around her, she didn't even look around to see the people who were there. She ignored them.

Later, after the event, she got into the limousine again and sped off (to fly back home, presumably).

Although this is second hand, I do trust the story and was saddened to hear of it. Maybe her actions were misunderstood by my former pastor, but I can assure you that her actions spoke volumes to the thousands of poor Indians who were there.

I am sure those type stories are not exclusive to women preachers. Any preacher who sells tickets to hear him speak loses my respect. As far as I know it is still free to go to a Billy Graham crusade.
