That's a tough one. Of course it's always good to help others in need, but that's pretty much a universal concept. But as far as asking how 'responsible' for other people we all are, I don't know. There's a big difference between a choice to serve and an obligation.

That much I'd be willing to bet is true. How would there be temptation without the presence of Satan?

According to the Bible, no one. He just got too big for his britches.

I see your point though. The thing to remember, however, is how powerful Lucifer was. He was the highest among angels. Power can be very intoxicating. To put it bluntly, he thought he was good enough to take a shot at the title. He lost.

Comparing Lucifer in all his glory to you and me in a spiritual sense is really no comparison. I have a hard time believing any of us could stand in God's presence and think, even for an instant, "Yeah, I could take Him."

don't know about that HB, untill someone is mature enough to know the extents of their abilities and begin to understand far greater powers that they happen to posess. It's really easy to define everything in tems of yourself and to then think you are the best in any given situation. Then again there are examples galore of people believing their own BS as the premise for their actions, when any grasp of reaity would tell them otherwise.

I don't know about "from the start". The Bible doesn't say. So far, neither does the Qur'an. The only thing we know is that at some point he decided to turn against God.

Honestly, I think (pure speculation here) the root of the choice he made to turn against God was the power he had. God gave it to him when He created him, but gave him the choice -- either serve God or serve yourself (the same choice God gives to every one of us, BTW). Lucifer chose the latter. That choice made by Lucifer was the beginning of evil as we know it.
