three-year, $1.425 million, $520,000 signing bonus, looks like minimum salaries. Good, might as well get one or two in right after the sessions.

I was looking at the SI comments on cap space where they were explaining that the squeeze on cap room was a little deceiving. They said that we have about $900,000 to sign our picks but signing our top 4 picks would automatically bump the 4 lowest on the list of 51, clearing at $500,000 apiece about 2 mil. This is 3 million without cutting anyone. Maybe we still have to cut a vet but it's not as bad as it looks.

Saw in another place where Peter, Smith, Timmy and others who are no longer with the team cost us this year almost 10 million in cap room. Good grief!

That's true. Here's another way to look at it. Only Peppers and Foster are going to get any real signing bonus that we will have to fit under the cap. The rest should fit easily under what we have, since they will be making the rookie minimum.

We won't cut anyone to sign our picks. They'll all all make it to camp. We will restructure Stussie and Moose for what we need. I figure we will have at least one, possiblely two unsigned rookie WR make the final 53. That will help.

Piper, I am confused on the number of players who count aganst the cap.

Quoting Pat Kirwan of SI- " The league only counts the top 51 salaries on a roster when it determines the cap".

Is he mistaken in this statement?

    The referance is:

Nice article about the unfairness to vets because of the cap rule.

Sorta. Right now, only the top 51 count. When final cuts are made, all 53 count.
