    If we win and:

*Fasani plays good/great - Fasani probably gets the start on the pretense of giving Peete more time for his knee to heal, but he would likely have a relatively short leash with Weinke ready.

*Fasani plays so-so - Peete probably starts because Weinke never really had the chance to do anything to unseat him. If Peete can't play, Weinke starts.

*We win despite Fasani - Then Peete starts. If Peete is unable to go, then Weinke starts.

If we lose (which won't necessarily mean the season is tanked, but for the sake of argument, lets say it is):

    * If Fasani plays well - He starts.

    * If Fasani plays so-so - It depends on how the coaches view his performance. If they think he showed the necessary skills but needs more reps, Fasani will start. On the other hand, if they think he is still a project who is not ready to play, Weinke starts.

    * If Fasani sucks up the joint - Weinke starts.

    * Peete would likely only start if the coaching staff has given up on Weinke and Fasani shows he is still a long way away. I believe they would prefer to see if Weinke or Fasani has what it takes to be our future. Of coarse, as I said, this is only if the staff feels the season is tanked.

Basically, I think Fasani is their guy. They want him to step up, and I think they will give him every chance to do that. But if we are still in the playoff hunt, they will only stick with him as long as he provides a spark along with solid play, otherwise it will be Peete. I believe Weinke's only chance is to shine if/when he does get another chance, his learning curve is much shorter than Fasani's. They want Fasani, but if he is not ready, and we are out of the playoff hunt, then the coaches would likely give Weinke one last shot to prove he's worth keeping.

I'd have to figure Fasani's now going to be their guy short term. Weinke isn't done, but he's basically relying on someone else's fate to get him another chance, a chance he'd have to do something well with. So as of right now, Fasani's battling for position against the next pick.
