I'm trying to provide technical support for my TBR colleagues, and I can't provide that service whilst dodging blond-like contributions.

we had a computer pull the same sort of thing at work -- just decided it wouldn't boot. some sort of file corrupted during the boot process (it was hard to tell which file because the screen put all the filenames on the same line over each other). it didn't go to the bsod. as it turns out, it was a good opportunity to buy a whole new system ($600 compaq athlon 3200 replacing a p3 1ghz) -- particularly since the machine seemed completely unable to boot from cd for some reason.

anyway, the way windows seems to slowly go crazy as things are installed/uninstalled/upgraded a fresh install every once in a while is probably worth it.

math seems to think that's my only solution to problems... its just the FASTEST solution sometimes, and I recommend it being done around every 6 months.

    :roflmao:

You actually recommend rebuilding your PC every 6 months? That's just nuts - and extremely poor management.

My PC? Yes. I back everything up to a server, and I have an Imagine of my PC that's near perfect.

At work that's not realistic though.

Oh, OK. An image is different. I thought you meant build it from scratch each time. Yeah, if you have the means, that would work. Have to keep the image updated for security and junk, though.
