Windows XP Pro bootup problem

    I am getting the dreaded blue screen that says that Windows can't boot because the log file is corrupted or not there. How hosed am I?

    tried Safe mode and if that doesn't work Last Known Good?

    Yep to both. No dice. And restore just said that there was an error with the drive.

    It has been behaving strangely for a little while now. The upside is that I can get to all of the files on the drive (and have already transferred them) because I have another drive with an old instance of XP Home on it.

    I thought the BSOD said what it is. Did it say 'log' or did it say something like HKLM\SYSTEM or HKLM\SOFTWARE?
