Windows SP3 update

    The main problem I've been experiencing is IE7 crashing. Never had that problem before SP3, though. You mentioned problems with 3rd party firewalls -- I've got Norton installed. Do you think that might be the source of the problem?

    Most big vendors like Norton will have updates available for a new SP. You'll want to disable your XP firewall if you are using Norton FW, and SP3 will have re-enabled the XP firewall if you had previously done this so double-check it.

    Symantec/Norton also block a windows service from doing some needed work during the upgrade, both companies have fixes now.

    The fix from MSFT requires booting into safe mode to replace the file that symantec is blocking from doing it's work, easier just to use the symantec file for now.
