The Dolphins have offered a low round 2003 draft pick in exchange for DE Jay Williams, That would likely end their inteest in Rob Burnett. So far the Panthers have balked at the offer and still expect to work out a new contract in today's meeting.

If they're offering a 5th, I say do it. Hell, he's out of here next year anyway so get something for him. Then sign Burnett.

    I don't get this:

22:30 PT: Updating earlier stories, the AP reports the Carolina Panthers have withdrawn their request for DE Jay Williams to take a paycut. In return, Williams will attend the final two weeks of voluntary coaching sessions, which resume Monday. After meeting Sunday, agent Ron Del Duca and the team reached the agreement. The move doesn't guarantee Williams a spot on the roster and the team still could release him after training camp. The team did promise Williams a chance to win a job in camp. "That's all we can ask for," Del Duca said.

I wonder if Peppers is really struggling?

Scary. Fuck - who gets the axe now? Someone's gonna lose a job to sign these draft picks.

Williams will get an extended contract with a minimum salary this year.

That makes more sense. Good for Jay.

Either he'll get the extention or be traded. If traded we'll still only be stuck with the remaining bonus.

  8. I heard the highest pick the Phins offered was an 8th round...

Yeah, but you can get some really good deals in that 8th round.
