Love the guy, but it was just a dumb move. Interesting how Panthers fans were nearly unanimous in agreement that the team shouldn't spend a lot on him with Stewart & Goodson still around, but suddenly liked spending $43 million after Hurney did it.

Adrian Peterson's deal makes this seem quite the bargain.

If you have 2 reliable 3 series BMWs, do you need to spend your last 100K on a 7 series while your garage still needs a new roof?

From an article at Livestrong.com Since he is splitting the carries he may last a little longer...
    "Shortest Careers
The shortest careers among NFL players tends to be those who hit and get hit the most during games and practice. Running backs have the shortest average careers of just 2.57 years. Wide receivers have average careers of 2.81 years. The average career for cornerbacks is 2.94 years."

DeAngelo was used more than any other RB in the NCAA while he was in college, so the idea that he doesn't have a lot of mileage is erroneous. Also, RBs tend to decline at 30 mostly because of physiology, as the body changes around that time, becoming less fast and explosive while gaining strength.
