    Predictable, unfortunately.

I like DW a lot as a player and seems like a great teammate, but dammit Hurney. Or dammit JR for not canning him.

I'd take him over Rice, Turner. Forte all day every day. And he's equal to some of those others.

    Doesn't change the overpaying/too long a deal.

Maybe there's stuff in there that makes it palatable to cut him in three years. Hoping so.

It's a different world now with the salary floor but I wish we'd spread it around. We still have Kalil and Beason to deal with, Anderson and TD to a lesser degree.

We got a break with TD's contract carrying over into 2011, but this probably damns us out of signing Anderson.

    Why?

    $21 million guaranteed says no.

I think Anderson will get re-signed and the others will get extensions, along with TD. Hurney's formula clearly seems to be keeping the 2-14 team together, then hoping that Newton alone is enough to flip those numbers.

Wasn't there always a salary floor under the old CBA? Or is this just versus last year?

I don't know about a set floor in the previous CBA. But weren't we at 75 mil or so last year? Way low, and I don't believe a team could do that now. I thought the new deal says teams have to spend 90 plus per cent of the cap ceiling. 99% is what I thought I'd heard.

    Collin:

Maybe because I've seen DW more than the rest and think he's an awful good running back, maybe it's a little bit of homer in me.

I think of Turner as more of an inside guy. Fewer YPC by a good bit, has been run very hard the last few years. I wouldn't complain if he played for us though.

Forte, I've seen several times on TV and just don't think he compares favorably. Eyeball test.

Rice, I'm mostly pissed at over FF, and seen him play a few times, certainly don't think he's any better.

They're all very good but I'd go with DW if I had to pick.

It's either new or else before it was so low that it never came into play. That's the main thing the union claimed as a victory, since now every team has to spend a staggering 95% of the cap.

He's very good, but I think Rice is clearly better. Turner is debatable depending on what type of running back you value, whereas I think most would agree with you about Forte being clearly inferior.

By the way, the salary floor means that we'll see more stupid-shit signings than ever. It's the same reason New Jersey gave $35 million to Travis Outlaw.
