Will Patton to interview for Bama HC position

Will Patton, the actor who played Coach Bill Yoast in the 2000 film "Remember the Titans," will be interviewed for the vacant head coaching position at the University of Alabama.

Patton, who has no previous football coaching experience at any level, reportedly approached Alabama athletic director Mal Moore to request he be considered for the job. Patton, who has a lazy eye, told Moore he "got some really neat ideas about coaching" during the filming of Titans, the critically acclaimed drama starring Denzel Washington.

Those who follow and support the Alabama program are wary about the possibility of Patton taking the reins of the stories Crimson Tide program, namely because Patton's character in Titans was a defensive coordinator.

"We're good on defense," said one prominent booster, who asked to remain anonymous. "Coach Yoast has no equals on the defensive side of the ball, but we need help on offense, goddammit. I think Craig T. Nelson would be a better fit."

Moore refused to say if Patton is considered a front-runner for the job, pointing out that many qualified candidates, including an Alabama high school coach whose team recently lost a state title game, will also be interviewed.
