So I give you an example of how it can happen to a shark, and you believe it can happen to a shark, but not a mammal?

did i say anything about a mammal? i just commented on it happening to a shark. it can totally happen with a virgin female human too. i've seen them on maury.

edit- Parthenogenesis is known to have happened before with sharks, fish, some reptiles, birds, bees, plants, etc etc etc. To somehow relate that to mammals is scientifically not proven.

also worth noting that if by some weird chance it DID occur in a mammal, the offspring would be female.

    1. I love your posts ecilam. You rarely fail to engage & make me think.

    2. Apes have culture. Much of it is nonverbal, but they have a surprisingly deep culture, including social hierarchies, family systems, etc. I think the divergent path you're looking for is in language/communication, and that is shared across upper level mamals, ours is just way more developed.

Besides, saying our culture is superior to any mammals is a stretch. Just read the headlines on any given day.

As has been discussed in the past, many of our advantages (e.g., walking upright) were near term disadvantages that lead to major advanatages (e.g., being able to give birth to babies with larger heads) later on down the road.

The belief in something that can't be scientifically proven is a common occurence. Is the universe expanding?? Most scientists believe it is even though it can't be proven. They believe because other factors point to the possibility. Parthenogenesis points to the possibility that a virgin could concieve. It doesn't prove anything with regard to the conception of a messiah, but it hints at a physical possibility.

Much like my belief in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, which also cannot be proven. I have just been through enough in my life to know when He is near me, watching out for me, like He does all his true believers. It is a question of faith.
