I'm not looking for a generic/textbook answer, I'm just curious to know people's personal reasons for wanting to spend forever in heaven -- your motivations and expectations.

I don't really think there's a heaven place, so I don't know how to answer.

i believe in heaven and hell, but i try not to put too much thought into it. I'm sure heaven is more wonderful than anything i can comprehend and hell is more anguish than anything.

however, I think being a Christian to gain entrance in heaven or to avoid hell is missing the point. We should love and obey God because He loves us - to honor what he has already given us. Heaven shouldn't be a "bribe" from God, nor should hell be a "threat".

That's just my own 2 cents... I guess i shouldn't question anyone's motive to be a "good christian", but I try and find other motivation for myself.

Most of you know that I'm pagan, so my goal is not to go to heaven. My goal is to continually learn & grow in character in this life & whatever is beyond it--to grow wiser, more loving, more patient, more compassionate, stronger, & so on. I believe that's the whole point of life--become all you can become, to paraphrase the army ads.

Without getting deep into my personal beliefs etc.............the first thing I thought when I read your thread title was "to see my grandma again and to feel her hugging me".

I don't know that I actually believe in `heaven' as such - I believe that every soul exists beyond life as we know it, though the level of love and growth experienced will be based on how one was in this life.

I'm excited about spirit life - in that I will be reunited with the people that have gone on before me. That, and I suppose in dying, I have completed my business here and done what I needed to do :hurray:.
