Why didn't Peppers get credit?

This was the matchup I was most interested in. Sounds like it went about like I figured it would--Peppers beats Davis on a couple of outside speed rushes, but for the most part Davis schools him. No disrespect to Pep, I think Davis is just that good. Last season when the Cards had him playing guard, I saw a highlight of him holding a DT static with his right hand, and pancake a blitzing safety with his left hand. It was without a doubt the most incredible play I've ever seen by an offensive lineman, and if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it.

But you're right Magnus. The two potentially game-turning plays Julius was able to make against Plummer were really outstanding.

How many pressures and hits did he have?

Here's credit of a sort, from Mort's page:

    Best Performance: Defensive Rookie
    1. John Henderson, Jaguars DT -- In his starting debut, the 6-foot-8 Henderson visually clogged McNabb's passing lanes and came up with three sacks in huge Jags' victory.

    2. Phillip Buchanon, Raiders CB -- He picked off the league's hottest QB (Bledsoe) for an 82-yard interception return for a TD when the game was on the line.

    3. Charles Grant, Saints DE -- The team's second first-round pick gets eight tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

    4. Wendell Bryant, Cardinals DL -- He signed late, but he showed up vs. Carolina with 1½ sacks.

    5. Julius Peppers, Panthers DE -- He met his match in Cards OT Leonard Davis, but still made his presence felt and has a knack for doing it when it counts.

Hey, Meat, do you think Davis will be the toughest RT he'll face this year?

    The rest of his competition:

    DAL: Solomon Page

    ATL: Todd Weiner

    TB: Cornell Green
(NFL has Kenyatta Walker as #2, the Bucs official site has him at #3 behind Lomas Brown, but I thought he was starting?)

    NO: Spencer Folau

    TB: Cornell Green

    ATL: Todd Weiner

    CLE: Ryan Tucker

    CIN: Willie Anderson
(Seems to me like Anderson's hurt? If so, Victor Levya will start.)

    PIT: Marvel Smith

    CHI: James "Big Cat" Williams
(He could also be Pep's toughest test.)

    NO: Spencer Folau

I didn't think I'd say this, but yeah. Leonard Davis is the Shiz-zat.

Williams could be a big test only because of size. Is Page still starting at RT? Didn't they move Larry Allen again?

Weiner and Cornell Green ain't shit.

He should finish with at least 9 sacks.
