But if you believe these epistles were divinely inspired and that Paul spoke with theauthority of Christ, then they are something more. Paul discusses how the church should be, act and what the churches should focus on. Pauls letters laid out, more clearly than the Gospels, how to be a Christian.

I agree....if you want to know Jesus, spend some time with him.

I find interesting is that after the resurrection, the guys who had spent the previous 3 years with Him on an almost daily basis, repeatedly (almost 10 times) didn't recognize Him.

On the surface, it is surprising. But the mind is a funny thing. Sometimes we can be looking right at something, but the mind refuses to accept what we're looking at, so it says something different. I think that was the case in that exchange. They saw Him sentenced, most saw Him scourged, one even saw Him die on the cross. It's not out of the realm of possibility that the apostles' minds wouldn't accept what (or Whom) their eyes were seeing.

I agree. After witnessing that horrific death and actual burial, even though He told them He would rise again, I'm sure it was tough to comprehend. Makes me wonder about the symbolism of their not recognizing Him as well. Like through the ages, and today, so many don't recognize the gift we've been given and therefore don't accept it.

I always wondered...is it sacrilegious to not capitalize a pronoun that is referring to Jesus Guadalupe Gonzalez Ramirez de Cristo?

I'm currently going through converting to the Orthodox church. While the epistles are important the gospels are most important. IMO the Orthodox church is the closest church to how Christ and his apostles intended us to worship.

I just wish the Ethiopian orthodox church had a stronger influence. I think it is even closer than eastern orthodox due to its relative seclusion during its formative years.

Paul was in close contact with Peter and James, so I think it is wrong to portray him as some outsider.
