Yep. It was a very famous photo taken during our "occupation" of Viet Nam. And yet Thelt has never seen it. I think it is terrorism. It's a form of terrorifying people into changing their beliefs. Many Buddhist monks killed themselves to escape the torture they would have received. And in a way, they were making everyone else deal with the shit they no longer had to deal with.

I was not born until near the end of Vietnam. I am not hung up on it like some are so it does not surprise me that I have not seen that picture.

    Who was torturing the Monks?

i am definitely not hung up on it. and i wasnt born until 10 years after it. its just that when you study things like history and other cultures you may see perhaps the second most famous photo from that war.

and futhermore to make such a sweeping account as "I have never heard of a Budhist who was a terrorist. I think they may be the only religion that can not be blamed with atrocities....They are basically neutral on most things." that you would atleast have looked into it once. The most rudimentary search on Buddhism would bring this photo. I think Time voted it as one of the top 20 most influential photos of the 20th century.

no but it does show that you do not possess the knowledge to make a statement. if you havent seen this representation you have a VERY limited knowledge of them

I have read some books that contained some Buddhist philosphy and based on that they seem to be unlikely terrorists.

So am I wrong or do I just not know enough about them to get credit for being right even though I am?
