Oh yeah. Almost went there. Had an appointment and everything, but I wanted to be a Marine fighter pilot, and realized that I really didn't feel like giving up the next 12-15 years of my life to the military.

Yep, Annapolis recruited me heavy, too. Varsity football and valedictorian look pretty impressive to an academy recruiter, I guess. But like you, I didn't feel like giving away that big of a chunk of my life at the time. I often wonder what it would've been like, but I don't regret it.

one of my good friends was the qb for navy from 87-90, Alton Grizzard. We played summer baseball together. a few years after he was done with football he was shot and killed in some apartment along with a girl and the shooter then shot himself.

I love going to watch Navy play. The stadium is small but nice and you can pay general admission prices to sit on a hillside behind the endzone. The only drawback is traffic in Annapolis is horrid on game day. Better come early. Watching the students march in is very cool.

Dang Bear, that's too bad about Alton - I liked him as a QB. I didn't remember he'd died.
