    Classic!

I agree, Ecliam, it's disturbing. It's disturbing to me because it's an impoverished, perhaps even false, interpretation of Christianity. It seems to be a clip of the dominant trend of Christian fundamentalism to cast Christian faith as basically a set of purity rules. The Gospels are full of Jesus both criticizing and pointing beyond the purity rules that had developed in Jerusalem. The Good Samaritan, for example, is a blatant mockery of the purity rules of Judaism at that time.

I agree with Superfluos Nut: it's convenient to declare war on an enemy. It's a whole lot easier than reflecting on your own life to examine our own shortcomings.

The greatest danger with these folks is twofold: they cause unwarranted hatred towards relatively innocent targets, and they make people think Christian Discipleship is following purity rules. Christian Discipleship is a life guided by love. There's quite a difference between the two.

I agree and have been wondering if Eiclam's so called "Christian"
upbringing was governed more by legalistic teachings..rules and rituals or
"Religiosity" if you will, rather than Christ''s love reigning within the home.

The only way to a personal loving relationship with Christ is becoming personally acquainted with Him through his words....the gospels of Matthew Mark, Luke and John, or perhaps finding Him through the Roman Road (ie) the Book of Romans. Just read it...God will begin to speak personally to you...the Bible is your personal letter from God Himself...who is Christ Jesus.

Abinedab's link was, iirc, just to the same clip ECILAM linked in his original post on this thread. It was part of a documentary about some fundamentalist Christian kids at camp, and included some over-the-top rhetoric from a woman speaker about Harry Potter, etc.
