Actually, it does. That list was compiled straight from the background research of the New International Version Study Bible, widely accepted as one of the most accurate and literal translations of original Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic Biblical text in existence today.

You're half correct. Only Matthew and John were. Mark and Luke were not (as the list notes).

Most were, but not all. Matthew was an agent of the Roman government, and as such was a literate man. So was Paul, but by the time his version of the Gospel was written, it is believed that he was already going blind. John's gospel was the last to be written, and he would've had ample time to learn to read and write.

In some cases, that's true. The Gospels were written decades after the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, and as mentioned, two of the four Gospels were penned by 'apprentices' of the apostles, not the apostles themselves.

Believed by whom? The Gospel of Thomas is so out of touch with the rest of both the Old and New Testaments, I can't imagine anyone seriously vouching for its integrity over that of the other Gospels and scriptures.

    Yeah, you could say that.

Actually, it isn't true. If you study the Scriptures, especially the New Testament, you see the "ruling class" getting reprimanded, judged, villified, and beaten up in general more than any other entity on the planet.

According to the expert I heard the other day, scribes and interpreters were often dictated to by the ruling class to make subtle changes in their transcriptions to better help manage people. [I didn't catch if he was speaking of the OT or NT.]

But read the text itself, Jazz. It still doesn't paint anywhere near a flattering picture of "the ruling class", be it from a political, social, or financial status. The assertion just doesn't make any sense.

The Bible was not written to fit you, it was written to fit God and for you to fit into God's Will.

Accurate and Literal? Explain to me why they along with all other non-KJB, Sinneatical/Vaticanal texts (NIV, ASV, RSV, etc..) omit verses, omit words, and change punctuation all to take the verses out of context? If it does this, and it does, it can't be accurate or even close to literal.
