If you were less interested in picking a fight with me, you might have noticed that Jenkins played five seasons primarily at LDE for the Packers before Dom Capers arrived and they switched from the 4-3 to the 3-4. He is a little heavier than Charles Johnson, but they're fairly similar in body type and skill set, while you certainly know that Johnson has obviously spent some time as a pass rushing DT as well.

That's an odd statement considering that it's much easier to get sacks as a 4-3 end than as a defensive tackle.

I know he played some left end in the 4-3. You have to readily admit that a 300 lb player at left end is a lot more rare than typical.

Actually he was a RDE in GB before Dom, but slid inside on passing downs. He's best inside and plays inside for Philly.

Not at all. Calais Campbell, Corey Redding, Charles Johnson, Israel Idonije, Jayme Mitchell, Carlos Dunlap, Matt Roth, Will Smith, Chris Canty, Lamarr Houston, Da'Quan Bowers, and Derrick Morgan are all 275 to 310 with more on the heavier end of that scale. It's actually much more common than not for a 4-3 LDE to be that size. Defenses like Philly, Minnesota, and Indy who play penetrating pass-first will go with smaller players, but they're the exception. I'm pretty surprised you didn't already know that.

"275 to 310" is a lot different than averaging 300. Mike Rucker was 275.
Semantic arguments with you are so remarkably unfocused. Most people would play Jenkins at DT.

:banghead: Jesus Christ. Fine. Narrow it down to just the starting defensive ends who are near or over 300 pounds and you still have Calais Campbell, Lamarr Houston, Carlos Dunlap, Jayme Mitchell, and Corey Redding. Meanwhile Chris Canty, Julius Peppers, and Mario Williams are three more who played DE near or above 300 pounds last season. So no, it's not fucking rare at all. You said something wrong, but as usual, instead of acknowledging your error or even just dropping it you had to pretend like you weren't wrong even though I've provided the data showing you had no idea what you were talking about. You wanted to pick a fight with me, you did it, and as usual it blew up in your face.

I think the fact that you didn't even know Cullen Jenkins played 4-3 DE for five seasons with Green Bay disqualifies you from this conversation. Jenkins was listed as a defensive end on almost every free agent list coming during the off-season, and that's because he would play defensive end in most systems. Now fucking drop it before you make yourself look any more clueless.

you can make dismissive remarks and bluster all day, but most of what you listed still came from the 3-4 (and Canty's listed as a tackle, unless you prefer to suggest he starts over Tuck and Kiwanuka). OMG I'm so clueless!!

And, sure, whine about it. There's a massive difference between a 275 lb end and a 305 lb end, but you knew that. You just wanted to pretend I suggested no one at that size should play end, or that I suggested the only reason Jenkins should be inside is that I just now learned his name, looked up his profile and saw his weight. I knew he was a base end at one time. I've talked about it here plenty over the years. That doesn't change that most wouldn't, or that he was better playing inside.

But again, semantics with you are ridiculously unfocused. Yes, Jenkins has an additional sack. We can go back over why he chose to sign for less, or why you abandoned the Ray Edwards bandwagon after two games, but do anything you can to go out of your way to suggest that Charles Johnson, even after such a small sample size, has been good. Even with your super-special game of hindsight sliderule accountant football.

He was a DT for Donatell and Bates, Brown moved him to 4-3 DE , Capers installed the 3-4 in 2009. That means he played 4-3 DE for only 3 seasons with GB. The fact that you didn't know this also disqualifies you from this conversation. Move on to the next meaningless whine and bitch session.
