Doesn't matter. Either way, Roy is the only one. After he eventually decided against it, guys came to UNC and not the other way around. Larry Brown wanted the job but pulled out when it became clear they were looking for someone younger, and I even felt sorry for George Karl considering how openly he campaigned for the job. People tend to forget what Dougherty did at Notre Dame, and that he was considered one of the top young coaching prospects in basketball at that time.

Fogler took his name out of the hat, too.

I thought Doh would do well, if they had given him the chance. He was a hero of mine growing up. He told them it was going to be lean for a couple of years, but I guess between that and his personnel moves, it was too much.

And if State was going to bother going after a UNC guy, I would rather much have him than Ford. Let someone else take a chance on him; maybe he'll do OK.

If I remember correctly, George Karl had a clause in his contract that would let him out of his contract, no questions asked if UNC came knockin.

Yeah, and they're all criticizing us for acting exactly like they did. And nobody is pitying the Heels by the way. We don't have time to with all that pompus blabber you people spew.

So now UNC fans are saying only Roy turned the job down?! Oh my...then they go on to contradict themselves and say Brown pulled his name from consideration after he found out they were looking for someone younger?! WOW!
On second thought, Calipari, Barnes, Belein and Lavin all decided they didn't want to be in consideration for the State job because they were looking for someone older? Yeah, that sounds good. Lets stick with that.
As for Karl, I'm sure he beat the door down at Carolina wanting the job. He gave a lip service about what a great job it was and now you guys are saying he was basically begging for the job. You Carolina fans are really on to something there.
But, as I said earlier, keep laughing now. I'll be the first State fan to say I hope we get to the level of Carolina and Duke. So, if we do, and we very well could, you better laugh now. And even as "embarrassing" as some would want it to be to us, I'd rather drop the b-ball program than to have to endure another year of Sendek, and the way its looking I may get my wish! :)

instead of yapping about nothing, prove your point....you still havent answered the question as to who said no to UNC other than Roy.
