CUSA was the third best RPI conference either 2 or 3 years ago. I did not say year in and year out, I said "one year" it was rated 3rd in rpi. I would say on avg, it is 5-7 behind the ones you mention, but there are like 40 conferences in D1. My point was that it is in the upper crust and worthy of "merit" unlike slydevl said. stand by for a link. rpi link

I wasn't implying you were lying or saying that it was up there year end, year out - I was just curious what criteria you were using. :)

I don't have a college football team. I do root against and for certain teams. I like USC and NC State casually and of course CUSA teams OOC. I despise UNC and loved what they did last year, as did all ABCers.

dude I'm sorry I appreciate UNNC basketball but that's a shitty way to validate a school... I wasn't BORN in 1977... that's riding the coat tails of the past WAY too much... anything over 20 years old doesn't validate a school's credibility... there are numerous schools that have made a name and become powerhouses and there are teams that have since disappeared from the map in that time.

that be the same RPI ratings that have UNC (this year) at 54 and Charlotte at 96??? BTW last year if I remember correctly UNC was 20 and Charlotte had a 118 rating... you can't claim credit on what teams Louisville and Cincy play... you don't get credit for them

I'm gonna post on this thread with some trepidiation. I'm not interested in the name calling, but I wanted to make a point about the Brain being a Tarheel fan.

The reason why your love of the Tarheels is immature and more or less wrong is that it's like still obsessing over the first girl you had a crush on rather than the first girl you really loved. Worshipping from afar is easy - you always see everything in the best light and you never really deal with the "scars". That's why most Heel fans are annoying as hell. They're unrealistic & caught up in the pale blue fantasy - much like a kid in the throes of puppy love. The guy who's gone to a school is like the guy who actually dated the girl and loved her despite her physical flaws (webbed feet), annoying quirks (farts in her sleep), and personal flaws (constantly locks her keys in the car and is hopeless when it comes to money). He loves her despite the skeletons in her closet, bad hair days and annoying friends. When you go to a school and become a fan, you learn to take the good with the bad, and your faith in that relationship is grounded in reality. That's why it's better. That's why it's real.

You asked sarcasticaly a while back who you root for if you go to a different grad school. I was at UT for 3 years after Charlotte. I'm a Charlotte fan first everyday but a dozen or so Saturdays a year, and I would be then too if Charlotte had football. I guess you can love another woman after your first, but never as well. That just seems to be the way of it with everyone I met.

And speaking of UT fans, let me illustrate my first point a little more. I went to school with a bunch of guys who were born and raised Big Orange fans. Then they got to school. There's a concept up there called "the big Orange Screw" that like a blanket, covers everything negative about the university. Because of that little dose of reality, after 3 years, some of these guys got jaded, apathetic, or downright hated UT including the sports teams. I have a much greater appreciation for the ones who survived their time there and became realistic fans, in every sense of the word. Those are real Vol fans.

last year was bad, that is why we finished 96.

in 02 we finished good enough to get an invite to the NCAA, I think we were 40 rpi, while UNC was 8-20 with a 100+ rpi. here is the rpi breakdown since you are into creating facts:

    rpi by year
    uncc unc
    03 96 51
    02 42 116
    01 36 6
    00 48 27
    99 37 15

    source:
    rpi 99-03

if you are keeping score, the last 5 years avg finish in RPI
    uncc 51.8
unc 43 . you guys aren't as above it all as you think.

ugh that's just retarded... I WANTED to go to UNC... hell I even got accepted, but I had to decide if I wanted into the IT field or Sports Medicine... I chose computers... and frankly I've questioned if that was a mistake more than once...

...and those guys they sound like nerds that got picked on and made fun of and because of that hold ill feelings towards the school as a whole... if they'd spent less time discussing Star Wars novels and more time enjoying college life then maybe that wouldn't have happened... but even if they'd still chosen to be nerds they should have recognized and embraced it... nerds that know they are nerds are far more accepted than nerds that think they are cool... just ask math.

I don't think UNC is an RPI god... you're the one trying to use it to make Charlotte a better rank... my point is those Tar Heels which claim to hate do have a higher RPI rating on a regular basis.

man you don't read. the whole purpose of my argument of Rpi numbers was that Sly, you, and Vp were inferring that Charlotte was some third world program, and I actually was documenting some facts/numbers to go with my point. I was just pointing out that the 49ers have been right there with the Heels the last 5 years or more. The bottom line is that you have no reason to root for the Heels over the Niners (as a UNCC alum) except that you must of had a terrible college experience, because rooting for your alma mater (UNCC) behind a school you did not go to (UNC)is insane and as you say......nerdy.
