Calvin Johnson is a man among boys, and he's a boy among men as a freshman. He made three of the most spectacular plays I've ever seen in a row (well almost). The first was the top play on Sportscenter tonight.

He was running full speed to the right across the field, stopped on a dime, jumped to his left, and snagged a pass one-handed. This play was on third down if I remember correctly. Either way, it was RIGHT AFTER the color announcer wondered why Johnson wasn't getting any touches. Reggie Ball sucks, the play should have been easy, but the ball was thrown 3 feet behind the receiver. The freshman made a SPECTACULAR catch here.

A play or two later, Johnson made a NICE FUCKING GRAB against one-on-one coverage. The coverage was textbook, but Johnson was too good to let that 30 yard bomb go uncaught.

The third play was a play or two later again. It was spectacular single-coverage, and although there was no catch on the play, Johnson laid out beyond the abilities of his frame to almost cradle a one-handed snag at the back of the end zone that an average NFL reciever would not have touched.

I'm requesting footage of these three plays. The first play should be easy enough to find, due to ESPN putting it as their top play. Please hook me up if you've got these plays online. Others I'm sure would like to marvel at the ability of this college freshman.

Great win by GT, we can thank Jay Davis significantly, but Calvin Johnson is seriously beyond comprehension on offense. Anyone who can make Reggie Ball (only a soph, I probably shouldn't be so harsh, but oh well) look passable is aces in my book.

Johnson does look pretty awesome. It was the first time I'd seen him, but to be honest I was watching the game on a portable TV from our seats at Williams-Bryce in Columbia. I'll take your word that he made us look as foolish on a big screen as he did on that little one.

It's the interceptions that make or break a QB I guess. He did a bunch of other things right. If they don't beat FSU next week, and thus taking them out of bowl contention, they might as well play everyone they can against ECU.

I'm already looking at next year. Something's gotta change, and I don't know if Marcus 'Run First' Stone is the answer.
