Of the many problems I have, that isn't one. I accuse you of not seeing the whole picture because if you had seen the whole picture, you clearly would not have made the stupid comments you did. I understand why you want to rewrite your position now and pretend that you were stating something more reasonable, but that's not in my control. You said "GM may not be in the mess they are today if they hadn't killed this technology" and "GM made a HUGE mistake in not pursuing more fuel efficient vehicles sooner." Neither of those statements have any basis in reality for reasons I've already stated. The sources of GM's problems are well known, and as I pointed out, SUVs have consistently provided the highest profit margins by far for automakers.

The Corolla, Camry, and Civic have all been best-sellers for years, but you're mistaken about the Prius. According to one source, it only sold 158,000 units in 2008. That same source notes that sales of hybrid vehicles fell 9.9% from 2007 to 2008.

Maybe you meant in quality, but if you meant in sales then perhaps you'll be interested to learn that the best selling vehicle in America for 2008 was the Ford F-150, as it has been for several years in a row. Moreover, none of the vehicles in the top 10 average 30 mpg. Here is the list according to Forbes:

    1) Ford F-Series: 473,933, 16 mpg
    2) Chevrolet Silverado: 431,725, 17 mpg
    3) Toyota Camry: 411,342, 25 mpg
    4) Honda Civic: 352,248, 29 mpg
    5) Honda Accord: 350,638, 24 mpg
    6) Toyota Corolla: 328,878, 29 mpg
    7) Nissan Altima: 252,357, 26 mpg
    8) Chevrolet Impala: 244,692, 22 mpg
    9) Dodge Ram: 229,222 units, 16 mpg
    10) Ford Focus: 184,152 units, 28 mpg

Indeed they do. Too bad you weren't listening.

You are an idiot, and I've provided the facts that show just what a colossal idiot you are. Feel free to avoid the board until the shame wears off.

Funny you should point that out. Did you know that sales of the F-150, Silverado, and Dodge Ram all fell combined by roughly 30% for 2008? (F-150 27%, Silverado 23%, and Ram 29%.) Last I checked, 30%>10%. Moreover, did you know that sales of the Corolla, Camry and Accord only dropped by an average of around 5%. Civic sales were actually up 2.5%. Auto sales were down across the board last year, so you have to put all these numbers in perspective. Too bad you didn't.

First of all, everybody knows the F-150 has been the top selling vehicle since 1991.

Second, do these figures account for fleet sales and business use? You need to ask yourself these questions instead of taking these figures for face value. Didn't you say "you need to watch it skeptically. Ask yourself questions and cross-reference the information with data from other sources."? I'd be willing to bet that these figures continue to drop(as they already have) as the housing market stagnates.

As a side note, most people who own the F-150, Silverado, and Ram are now "upside-down" in those vehicles. They are no longer worth what they once were.

I'm still here and you're still TBRs biggest loser.

Don't believe that maintenance free bullshit. I was a forklift technician for 10 years and serviced a lot of electric forklifts with the EV1 system. the EV1 system relies on contact tips to deliver the current to the drive motor system. There are at least four sets of the contact tips in the system. These titanium tips were very expensive and required frequent replacement. Abuse by the operators such as running the machine with low battery current and low battery water levels would cut the life of these Contact Tips in half. There is also many other components that would go bad in the EV1 system such as rectifiers and drivers. I believe GM knew the EV1 car would turn into a consumer disaster.

Nice job dumping dirt on your own grave. So even though the Silverado and F-150 are still the best selling vehicles in America, you correctly point out that the gap used to be even larger. Did you really not think about the implications of pointing out huge sales advantages for pick-ups over other cars? Did you honestly not even realize how that reflected on your idiotic claim that GM would be doing well if they had just focused on electric cars? Good grief, you're even dumber than I thought.

Well obviously if you had the capacity for shame, then long before now you would have been embarrassed enough about your constant stupidity to either stay perpetually quiet or else try and educate yourself.

If anything this proves my point even further; that sales of trucks are dropping at a steeper rate than more fuel efficient vehicles. You also don't account for fleet sales and business use. I love how you pick and choose what you respond to...probably because you don't have a good answer.

I got laid last night...how long has it been for you? Maybe if you worked as hard at getting some pussy as you do at consuming yourself with this message board you might not be a miserable little fuck.

I can't tell if you're actually stupid enough to believe that. You said "GM may not be in the mess they are today if they hadn't killed this technology." You weren't talking about what might happen ten years from now, you said that if GM hadn't abandoned the electric car that they would be better off right now. Yet your own evidence illustrates that pick-ups have been leading in sales for over a decade, and that the gap had been even larger than the still substantial difference in 2008. And as I pointed out, profit margins on SUVs vastly exceed those on smaller cars. GM made upwards of $10,000 on average by selling an SUV, while companies like Honda only clear about $1000 to $2000 for each Accord sold, and the margin goes down even further on models using alternative emissions technology. So clearly GM would have been in much worse shape if they had done as you suggested.

The amusing thing is that you don't seem to realize that any misery I feel is due to being intelligent while interacting with morons like you. Thank whatever you believe in that you will never know the frustration that comes from enduring such abject stupidity since you are too stupid yourself to be aware of its existence. And as for "getting laid," anyone can get laid as often as they choose if they're willing to poke the rancid whores you've been with. Getting pussy is not a challenge for anyone. It's getting fine pussy that's difficult, and I certainly admit that I'm not gifted in that respect. Nice job playing the whole "I may be a moron, but at least I do other stuff!" card, though.

I think the real question here is 'Who killed the electric car thread?'

Not really a question about that, and I ought to know.
