feel really good about the new staff . .. it seemed like Fox & Co abondoned game prep and pretty much just mailed it in all last year. If they had spent half the time and energy each week that collin and a few others here spend on tedium and critique 4-10 might have been possible. )

There are a lot of things you can criticize about Fox, but I can't ever imagine him not putting in effort.

OK, i may have exaggerated a bit on players in his face but he did have 3 bearing down on him.

Point is that the Giants saw that Cam wasn't going to be as easily rattled as JC, so they brought the house. And, Cam still almost burnt them. Ever hear another team's coach or players say anything positive about Jimmy after a game?

I guess you're gonna make me go back and look at JC's TD and Cam's play. (And maybe Cam didn't have to look off a safety in this game ... I don't remember any plays where the safety came over and broke up the pass, but could be. Possible that he throws the ball with so much zip he doesn't have to worry about a safety being able to catch up to his heat.)

The point is that this was Cam's first time against NFL players and he showed well. He didn't give the other team any points nor did he throw any INTs. I expected a lot worse. Is he Montana or Namath? No. Doesn't have to be in his first preseason game to look very good to a casual fan. And, he doesn't have to be for this team to win 10 games.

Smith may have the fastest couple of first steps in the game. Goodson also has great acceleration. I think, not sure of this, that AE is faster than what he looks. When he reversed the field, I didn't think he'd be able to outrun the couple of guys coming down. (I'm guessing one of them was pretty fast ... need to check out who it was.) I'm sure the Giants didn't. And then, he just floored me when he juked that guy after he turned the corner. That was just plain nasty.

Speaking of Goodson, he even made himself fumble walking to the sideline with ball after the play was over after the first KO. i think. it was a sign of things to come.

As always, a pleasure to argue with you love.

That comment makes absolutely no sense. When you think someone will get rattled, that's when you bring more pressure, not the other way around. And no, Cam fucked up on that play. He didn't step into the throw the way you claim Clausen should have (when he actually did do so to complete his touchdown pass), and it caused an inaccurate throw to a wide open receiver. I acknowledge that facing a heavy blitz creates a high degree of difficulty, but Newton just needed to step into the throw and deliver it on target to score. Instead, he's the one who got scared by the blitz and threw off his back foot. Find me an example of Clausen doing that against the Giants.

It boggles the mind that you think I would care more about what someone says than what I can see with my own eyes. You were wrong, dude. You made comments that were proven factually incorrect, so man up and acknowledge it. Again, I understand why a Panthers fan would be biased against Clausen after last season's debacle, but the dude played well Saturday night except for the horrible interception.

Good grief. Looking off the coverage is an important part of playing quarterback at the NFL level, but it's not something Cam ever learned how to do at Florida, Blinn, or Auburn. Maybe he'll get it in time, but right now he's not a skilled player. He's getting by on his instincts and his raw arm strength.

No, actually the point is that he didn't play well at all. He looked confident, so people who don't actually know anything football think he played well, but in reality he absolutely did not. 8 for 19, dude. He was badly inaccurate, he was repeatedly throwing off his back foot, and he didn't know how to read coverages or go through his progressions. Now looking bad in your first game is to be expected, and means nothing about his future, but the fact is that he was bad. He had a QB rating of 66.6.

We don't ever really argue. You say something wrong, then I have to correct you. There's a reason why people ask for my opinion, while you're just a level above Thelt when it comes to posting nonsense. I appreciate your passion and I don't want your history to stop you from expressing your thoughts about the Panthers, but it would be nice if you were a little more open to correction. You could have said that you'd go back and watch the game again back when I first said you were being unfair to Clausen.

you can "imagine" and assume a great number of things apparently but please don't keep trying to pass those opinions of yours off as FACT . .. that's just not being honest is it?

Tough call on who to start.

I wonder what the huddle is like with each one? I wonder what the locker room feel is like?

I don't like cam's %, but I like his yards per attempt. That was missing from JC last year, and he was god awful. He may be 'better' in camp, but it's not games, and he still has some issues. Has his improvement in camp improved his status in the locker room / huddle? Will Cam's intangibles trump his inaccuracy?

    Hrm....
