Not at all, and you will recall, I did not have a chance last year to stay on the Lewis wagon for long last year.:D And my major beef with Winky last year was he should have been benched after a 1-5 start. At least for a game. Ahh, but don't you worry, we go 1-5 or 0-6 this year, he'll get aquainted with the clipboard.

You are right, Fasani had some of the backups in for Washington. In the end though, I don't care about his mechanics, the guy "demonstrated" a knack to make some things happen - this is something us Panther seens have rarely seen.

With Foster, Fasani and Fields showing what they could do we may have to come up with nicknames for these guys if they can be consistant against starters for all teams. The one thing I liked about all 3 that would not have mattered what string they were playing against, was the fact they fired up their teammates and were not scared to hit somebody. Not sure how high these guys can go up the depth chart, but sure is some nice depth on the team.

Brad Jackson and Anthony Bright looked promising as well. Jackson had some really nice hits and seemed to be all over the field. Bright got himself open and had some really soft hands.

Biggest problem in this game got us beat.....special teams....uggghh.

UNCFever you beat me to the punch while I typed this up in Word but I have very similar comments. Fasani was playing with an honest to God fire in the belly, as was Bright Goings Fields Jackson and actually all of our LB’s. Del Rios influence is definitely apparent on our LB crew. I think they are all pushing and trying to out do each other. I hope that LB attitude spreads to all the other positions.
BTW – I wasn’t surprised to hear that Fasani played LB in college but the way he scrambled and dozer’d reminded me of QBs with LB attitudes like Favre and Kelly. Fasani is going to push Weinke and as competitive as Weinke is it’s going to make him a better QB.

The thing I like in that picture of Foster that Paul posted is Goings sealing the corner. Goings had some good plays. Maybe Hoover has some competition.

I have to break it down in three areas:

    Helped-

Foster-may be starting as early as next week, but it will depend upon how much of the playbook he has down

Bright-he may not only have won a roster spot, but may have moved up to # 4 on the depth chart, Jeffers might ought to start worrying about his roster spot.

Fasani-showed some promise and an ability to move the team albeit against the 2nd and 3rd string Skins D. I thought he'd be a wasted pick due to other and more pressing needs. He is an improvement over what was here last year no doubt.

Witherspoon-good overall play including special teams. Naives might should put his house on the market now, I don't think he'll be back next year.

Jackson-great on special teams, has been in Del Rio's D for a couple of years which insures his roster spot.

Goings-looks like it's going to be Goings as the backup FB/H-Back. Did Johnson, our draft pick, even see the field last night?

Hankton-made a few plays at WR, played well on ST. He's a servicable 5th WR.

Rasmussen & Wallace-both played well in backup roles may earn roster spots if they continue to play at last night's level.

    Hurt-

Naives-was out played by Witherspoon and he's a FA after this year. Put the house on the market now, I don't think there'll be a contract waiting next year.

    L. Smith-no drive left in his legs, may still make the roster due to lack of depth at RB, but I don't see him being the starter.

    S. Smith-didn't do anything to supplant Byrd at #2 WR. Has three more games to make his move.

Wesley-poor play at the outset, but did improve during the rest of his time out there. He looked really raw out there.

Watkins-what? He hasn't been cut already?

    Jury is still out-

Peppers-zero impact, but it was a learning experience for him. He must adapt to the NFL and figure out how to use his talents against better competition. There aren't any Wakes and Dukes that he can run roughshod over in the NFL.

Montgomery-did absolutely nothing, he'll have to make a big push just to be on the roster.

Moose-still has the dropsies, which is a concern. He needs to hang on to the ball when it's thrown to him.

TE's-we threw to them twice that I saw. Walls needs to be used in this offense or he's a high dollar roster spot we are wasting.
