I tried a few years back and the lady said I owed late charges from 1986....when I went in to browse I felt her eyes upon me and it made me want to leave. She got caught embezzling funds last year and her picture was all in the local paper. How cool is that!

True story though in this case. Town of Mooresville dismissed Public Library Administrator (no name please) after allegations and ensuing audit/investigation in 2002. Local "Friends of the Library" group chairperson raised questions after fielding a study concerning the library restoration proposal and uncovered misappropriation of funds. You may have heard about this on the news or read it in the paper last year if you live in the area.

We live in York County, so thats a freebie. Wife works in Gaston county so she pays a one time 10 dollar fee (I think) so she gets to borrow, and the we used to me Charlottians so again we pay a one time 25 dollar fee and continue to borrow. The library downtown (Charlotte) is great

When I was teaching I used the library all the time. Now that I'm not officially don't have a class, I encourage my teachers to use the library and it's resources for what they are teaching. The youth services section has reading boxes based on themes teachers can check out and they can also call in and do a book order. I just did a book order 2 weeks ago for stuff on the Chinese New Year. Last Wednesday night I did an inservice for my teachers and allowed them to use the books I got. I need to start going to the library for personal stuff and not school stuff. It's hard to find time to read though when I'm either A) working or B) too tired to read.
