That's amazing. I'm just old enough to remember Fire and Ice (and not quite old enough to remember Chucky Brown but I saw him play a few times.) The league was so fun back then. It's hard to believe that Gugliotta and then later Todd Fuller would be the last 'solid/great' type players at NC State until Julius Hodge. I would really like to see them competitive again (at least against UNC.)

''That inspired some stunningly misguided commentary by play-by-play man Mike Patrick, who suggested that Sendek was forced out at State to make room for the more popular Lowe.''

Did he really say that? I missed it if he did. That very well could be stupidest thing he has ever said, and that's saying something.

I've heard that the Shaka Smart stock is up, but that is just talk.

Thanks for the info. Hiring coaches right after a Sweet 16 appearance is hit or miss though. I like Shaka, but I like VCU's AD better. Heard on the drive home yesterday the AD saying they would do all they can to keep Smart if he gets offers but he said the same thing about Capel and Grant. Hard to compete against the $$$$ thrown around these days.

He's the hot coach given the tournament run. Anthony Grant experienced the same thing with VCU that year VCU beat Duke in the NCAAs. Lost Grant to Alabama and may have to fight to keep Smart. Both coaches were assistants to Billy Donavan at Florida. Smart is good just not sure how many players he has that are left over from Grant.

These guys are evidently on Tennessee's radar:

    Jamie Dixon of Pittsburgh
    Jay Wright of Villanova
    Anthony Grant of Alabama
    Mark Turgeon of Texas A&M
    Gregg Marshall of Wichita State.

Wonder is State is looking at any of those coaches?

I can't see Dixon leaving Pitt for UT or State.

Don't really see any of them leaving for either school. Maybe Marshall for more money? Grant going to a different school in the same conference would be weird.

Not getting the top 2, but the others are possible targets.
