That whole division is kinda well - whoever steps up. I'm still not impressed with the Vikings and with Carter retiring, unless he stays on as a WR coach, I look for Moss to either be in jail or in the dog house by mid season, if not before.

I look for Moss to break single-season records for receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches. Whether or not that's enough to make them winners remains to be seen. They won't win with defense, that's for sure.

The ViQueens are under a new coach and still don't have a legit running back...that was more of a problem to Culpepper last year than losing
Steusie. They also lost Chris Carter which will allow d's to cheat a little more to moss. The defense should be a little better...but almost anything would be an improvment. Remember both the Lions and Panthers beat them last year. New coach, new system, no runningback...they go 5-11.

Green Bay...the Terry Glenn will be an impact if he can stay out of trouble. Farve has a couple more years. They have the running game, d, and playmakers. Green Bay is the best team in the division...11-5.

Chicago...was last year a fluke? Solid power running game with weak to mediocre quaterback play. They d is good enough to keep them in games...they'll hang around like Tampa Bay used to and will win some and lose some in the fourth quarter. 9-7.

Detroit...Cleaned house...two young qb's, which one will play? Fired Vince Tobin as DC and brought in little Shottenheimer...who is going to play CB for these guys? Improved speed on offense by bringing in az-hakim, bill schroeder, and the return of a healthy germain crowell. solid runninback in James Stewart. Offense should be better. Improved glaring need for speed and athleticism at safety...solid d line in porcher, ellis, shaun rogers, and kalambi edwards...shoud be better than last year. New stadium, state of the art practice facility. 8-8.

Birk seems destined for left tackle thanks to McKinnie. That dude is bad news...glad we went impact rather than "safe".

    Meet the Vikings: David Allen
    Monday, August 5, 2002

In the off-season the Minnesota Vikings signed first year running back David Allen. This is Allen's first season with the Minnesota Vikings. Originally signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent in April of 2001, but was later released. Allen signed on with Minnesota on March 2, 2002.

Allen was a four-year starter at Kansas State. He had 103 punt returns for 1,646 yards (16.0 avg.) and seven touchdowns in his career. His 1,646 yards is a school record, a Big 12 record, and ranks second in NCAA history.

    Position: Running back/kick returner
    Height: 5-9
    Weight: 195

heh, hi piper! you forget the culp did not play much last season. so, he did not have enough time to miss steussie. i say we were pretty handicapped last year. no culp, no steussie, no moss even tho he was there, he wasnt! well, i remember moss clipping his nails on the sidelines! this year, tice will make sure moss is 100%. no more taking plays off. no more mouthing off. he will get an invite to the all-star game this year. ;)

Yeah, it's funny that three of the "other" considerations for the Panthers, Sims, Jammer, and McKinnie, are all hold outs.

Well, we all sure as hell know it won't be the Lions. I watched one sorry preseason game between the Ravens and Lions over the weekend. Yuck. It was not pretty.

Don't believe in the Bears too much either unless they can learn to throw a pass longer than 4 yards.

  10. you can't judge very much on one pre-season game. especailly the first one. you know that kshead.
