Here are the stats on the five of them:

Julio Lugo (play him wherever you want): 4 big league seasons, hitting .268 with 28 career HR, hit .246 in 65 AB in April with the Astros, designated for assignment on May 1 afterbeing charged with misdemeanor assault hitting his wife in the face and slamming her head on a car hood.

Kelvim Escobar (as a SP): 38 saves in 46 opportunities last season, prior to that, 30-34 in 3 seasons as a starter, pitched 170+ innings in 1999 and 2000, but posted an ERA over 5 in both of those seasons.

Denny Graves (as a SP): 0-2 with a 7.81 ERA this season as a starter after getting 27+ saves in 4 straight seasons as a closer. Has only posted one 100+ inning season.

Aaron Boone (as a 2B): Solid big league hitter, .800+ OPS two of the last 3 seasons, 26 HR last year. Decent fielding percentage at 2B, but simply looks out of place and uncomfortable out there. Had played a grand total of 5 innings at second base before this season, and had not played there since 1998.

Rickey Henderson (Again, play him wherever you want): Needs no introduction, holds a bunch of records, but is also quite old. Has an obvious love for the game, still may be able to contribute, and is probably younger than Julio Franco.

i think each team needs a leader someone who has established themselves in this league. other players respect that and go 2 him for advice.

I'm going for Aaron Boone. .800 obp...need I say more? A guy that's consistant at the plate is a big asset. You can have all the pitching in the world, but you can't win unless you score some runs. As for his awkwardness at 2nd base, that can be overcome. The longer he plays there, the more comfortable he'll get.

And as for Rickey...well, he's older than dirt. And although he's a veteran and veterans are usually seen as being in leadership positions...I highly doubt that too many people are going to him for advice. He ain't got what they call "the people skills".

Is this a fantasy question or for a particular team?

Lugo is getting deported, Escobar has an ERA around 12, Graves hasn't done well at SP, Rickey is old.

Boone is clearly the best choice. Hits well, good defense, and plays 3 infield positions.

Henderson is my favorite player of all time and he should be retired, but I'll take him. Can flash at world championship ring at the young guys.
