I believe that will have a big impact in what we do in the draft.

For example if we sign Stephen Davis that will rule out a 1st round back. etc.

Well yeah, but I think last year Fox had a "wait and see" and wasn't quick to pull the trigger on a few guys. I think he'll be more decisive this next FA period. My assumption is he's had time to evaluate his players by now, well....those who aren't on IR.

It still kills me to think how good WE could have been to pick up McCardell & Jurivious. Gruden immediately went after guys. Some worked out, like those 2, some didn't, like Pittman. But he was active. Granted, they had more money than we did, but a McCardell or a Jurivious could have put us in the play-offs. Adding both, definately. JMO

Pittman was a good gamble. I don't think that's a failure (he would probably have worked out well here) but his averages could be higher which is why Alstott's getting a lot of carries again. But at 50+ catches he's at leat being productive.

I think Pittman works best in a 1 back type offense. He rarely lets his blocks set up anyway. He totally lacks patience as a runner - so he works best getting up field as fast as possible on draws and kick hitters. Just my opinion though.

IMO, Tampa was the best fit for Pittman. He's a solid runner with breakaway speed and decent hands, but he's too fragile to be an every down 25 carry back. Enter Mike Alstott. Splitting carries between the two I see as very similar to what Gruden did two years ago with Garner and Wheatley, and what Mariucci is doing with Hearst and Barlow. It just works where you've got talent.
