What's the short cut for creating a new folder on a PC?

I still haven't figured that one out. Command+N on the Mac

You could say I’ve done some testing, yes. For the last 12 years I have spent 40-60 hours a week asking my computers to do all they can, do it together, do it right, and don’t crash in the middle of it all. I’ve built, rebuilt, formatted, networked, and installed just about every application I’ve heard of, for both Mac and PC. I’ve worked with a network of PC’s, Macs, and Unix based computers. PC’s running NT Server do what’s expected, and very stable. They Serve the workstations well. That’s where a Mac/PC comparison comes into play. Same applications, some customers supplying files, asking for the same things to be done. The general conclusion is if it’s on a PC, it’s a pain in the ass. Don’t get me wrong, they have problems, but you’ll get up and running a whole lot faster on a Mac. Even for a designer that knows what they’re doing, there’s going to come a time when you ask the PC to do something and it just says fuck it. It either doesn’t want to, or doesn’t know how. I don’t place a lot of games on computers, I prefer to play them on the TV. AOL does run better on PC’s than Macs, but with high speed access, they’re about the same. Earthlink, for a dial up, will run better on a Mac. But if your looking a specs, don’t let it fool you. A macs processor rating is more to true time than that of the inflated PC’s so called “processor speed”. One test comes to mind I ran a longtime ago. Same file (150mb), in Photoshop, set the same action. Launch, open, rotate, apply a filter, flip horizontal, change resolution, and save. The PC was much faster at launching the application. That’s about it. Not exactly apples to apples, but the Mac was a 9500/150mhz w/144 mb ram and working off an external 5400 drive, the PC, 400mhz, 128mb ram 16 gig 7200 internal IDE. The mac took about 7 minutes. The PC took over 1/2 hour. I did similar test with other applications and how long it took to print simular files, but the test were about the same, but not quite as dramatic. The PC still remained faster at launching the applications though. PC’s have made great strides, but still lack the stability needed in a work environment. To make it though a whole day without at some point booting the PC would be a bonus. If I have to boot the Mac more than twice a month, then it has been a very busy mac. There are lots of other little things that you just can’t explain without actually seeing it. Shortcut keys, hot keys, the whole feel of moving around the tools, opening & closing documents, even coping and deleting files move much smoother and faster on a mac. The Macs even communicate better with NT Server than PC’s do. Now, I may not know everything, but I know what works and I know what doesn’t work. So before everybody goes jumping all over my G4, know that it’s not just because I’m biased or the fact that my home computer was free (how many can say that about your computer), I have actually worked extensively on both. I used to have both a Mac and PC at home, but one of them doesn’t work anymore. Same ol’ story, boy meets girl, boy has dog, girl has cat, boy has mac, girl has pc. Well, we no longer have the cat either, it too was a much bigger pain in the ass.

Sorry, I meant the keyboard short cut. Waiting for that menu to pop up is just as long as going File->New->Folder.

At first I thought this was a trick, so I saved all my work not knowing what would happened. It worked and it's only 4 keys:D

Why would you go through ALL that trouble when all you have to do is Right Click -> New ->Folder?? Isn't that the POINT in what Windows was made for???

  8. Yeah, I'm not sure why his hands are on the keyboard anyway. :)
